Why didn't we take a carriage. The Vainlands was full of grass, the trees were sparse, and the wildlife was not plentiful, and as we kept on traveling the sun was beating us down as we kept on riding along the road.
"How much further till' we get to Chism?" I ask Dravis.
"Another day of travel my friend." Dravis answered while smirking.
"Why did we have to go through the Vainlands again?" Therese asked with sweat coming down her face.
"It's the fastest way to Chism without spending any gold." I answer her with a tired voice.
As we kept on riding along, we stopped in front of a river.
"Let's take a break." Dravis said as he dismounted from the horse, Therese and I sighed in relief. I jumped off the horse and went near the river, as I walked towards the river, Tohor lands near the rivers edge and began drinking the water. Once I was near the river, I grabbed the map from my satchel.
"Well we're here" Dravis pointed at the river in the map, "If we keep going along the Olyt River, we'll enter the Forest of Chism and then we'll be there." He said while point at the map.
"In a day or two?" I ask tiredy, "Most likely, if we don't encounter any problems." He said while looking at me.
"Well, no time to watse, let's get moving." Dravis said while walking back to his horse, "Yeah."
I whistle at Tohor while he was drinking the water, "Time to go boy." He looked at me and began to flap his wings, I then walk towards my horse and mounted it, and once we started traveling again, Tohor flew up, to join us from the skies.
For the whole day we kept on riding along the Olyt River, occasionally stopping to gather water, and when the sun has nearly set, we reached the edge of the Forest of Chism.
Once we got near the edge, we stopped our horses, dismounted them, and began to set up camp.
Our campfire illuminates our camp, as we sit around it underneath the cold night of the Vainlands, "What did you guys do before all this?" Therese asked us with a curious tone.
Dravis snickered a bit, "Well me, I'm just a traveler craving for an adventure, which is why I joined up with Zach." Therese nodded and looked at me, "And what about you Zach?" I stare at the fire, "Well, it started when I got a this map from one of the Black Cloaks, turns out that map was very important" Therese's eyebrows rose, "Important? How?" She curiously asked, "Well it apparently leads to the mystical Gem of Power" Her mouth dropped in surprise, "You're kidding..." She said in disbelief, "Maybe, but I think it's true, on account that they keep on chasing us." She closed her mouth and nodded, "All right... then what happened." I let out a sigh, "Came back home, saw them burning my home and then everything else happened." Therese looked at me with sadness in her eyes, "Did they?" She asked sincerely, "Yep, they killed my family, and all I got left is Tohor."
Therese's eyes looked down onto the campfire, "So Dun, it was them as well?" I looked at her, "Yes." I replied with a stoic tone.
Therese's eyes watered up and she began to cry, "They'll pay..." She said while crying softly, "They will." I said while slowly nodding my head.
Dravis stood up and said, "Well, now that we're done sharing out stories, let's get some rest." Therese wiped away her tears, "Yeah... I guess we should." She replied.
Dravis helped Therese walk towards the blankets, once they got there Therese laid down and Dravis began walking towards me, "What's the plan once we get to Chism?" I ask him, "Well, first we need to get her to a doctor, then we find info about the Black Cloaks." He said while dousing the fire, "Got it?" He said while looking at me, "Got it." Dravis nodded his head, "Good, get some rest."
I walked near the blankets and crashed onto it, and then I slept.
---MIDNIGHT---
I open my eyes as I hear rustling near the bushes, I try to look around but it was hard my vision was still blurry, "What the hell?" I ask myself quietly, then I hear a high-pitched scream from the north of us, I recognize it as a girls scream, and quickly looked around for Therese...
...
...
...
She was gone.
I quickly crouched down to wake Dravis, "Dravis! Wake up! Therese is gone." I wait for his response, but none came as he kept on snoozing away, "Ah shit, screw it." I stood up and grabbed Dravis' sword, "You won't mind if I borrow this right?" I look at Dravis as he kept on sleeping, "Yeah.. you won't." I quickly tap Tohor and his eyes opened while he yawned, "Come on boy, we have to find some one." I began to walk near the forest and let out a sigh, "Please be safe..." I said to myself.
I began to enter the forest, to find Therese and bring her back safely.
