I saw Cooper more often after that. He annoyed the crap out of me, but he wasn't stalking me and he didn't try to touch me after that. Today, he saw me at lunch.
"Hey, Herb." Cooper said as he walked up to me, "Or was it Harry?" I sighed.
"It's Hegwoyd." I said, "And why are you coming over here?"
"Well, Eggy." Copper said, "I saw that you seemed a little under the weather, so I decided to come over to you." I frowned, how did he know that I wasn't feeling good? My depression had worsened over night and I just wanted to sleep, but I couldn't.
"I don't know what you're talking about, Cooper." I said. Cooper looked impressed.
"You remembered my name, Harvey." Cooper said, "But you really shouldn't be alone when you feel like that."
"I want to be alone." I said.
"No, you don't, Edward." Cooper said.
"My name is Hegwoyd." I said, "Not Herb, Harry, Eggy, Harvey, or Edward. You got it right when I first told you. Are you trying to get me mad?" Cooper frowned.
"No, I'm not trying to get you mad, Hedge." Cooper said.
"It's HEGWOYD." I said.
"Hegword?" Cooper asked.
"No, Hegwoyd." I said.
"Hegworld?" Cooper asked.
"Hegwoyd." I said, "No 'r', no 'l'. Just a 'y'."
"Hegwoyd?" Cooper asked, to which I nodded, "That's cool. What does it mean?" I sighed.
"I honestly have no idea." I said, "My mom named me and I never got the chance to ask her why or even what it means."
"Oh..." Cooper said, "Can I eat with you?" I sighed again.
"Sure." I said, finally giving in. I didn't say a word after that, even when Cooper tried starting a conversation. I was just done.
