He released her and she took off, running as fast as she could, nearly falling from the pounding in her skull. A noise close to a howl rang out from behind her, subtle slapping of feet followed. He was chasing her, gleeful as a child. This was all a game to him, she realized. Her life meant nothing to him. Another explosion made the floor crack, the walls were beginning to cave. She screamed as a part of the floor fell beside her. The howls continued behind her, forcing her down the destroyed staircase. The wood was splintered and covered in rubble while more was raining down upon it. She stumbled down them, bashing her knee as she jumped over a gap at the bottom. Screams of pain filled the asylum. A nurse struggled to get an unconscious woman up, another lay dead as a female patient sobbed next to her corpse. Burning hair and blood held everything in its sickening grasp. Thick black smoke poured from the cracks in the floor and from behind the destroyed nurse's room. The front door was wide open, she was almost there. Something hard came down on the back of her head. Everything went dark.
It was pitch black when Suzanne opened her eyes again. Where was she? Her eyes adjusted to the dark. The asylum. She tried to get up, but her legs weren’t responding. She couldn’t feel them at all. Panic set in as she struggled to move. She was trapped. The rest of the building had collapsed. A gentle breeze cut through the destruction, making her sob. Freedom was so close. Two glowing red orbs appeared above her, then a lantern was lit. Drake stood over her, his face twisted in something that could have been concern. She tried to plead but her words were lost in sobs. He set the lantern down and knelt in front of her. He was covered in someone’s blood, like he had been eating them. He cupped her face in his hands.
“You lost, Suzanne.” He said, reproach strong in his voice, “Such a shame. I really thought you could win.” He closed her eyes gently with his thumbs.
A fleshy snap was followed by muffled laughter as the white haired man finished his turn. Flames lapped at the night sky as he made is way to town, the next round was about to begin.
