When Kato woke up, he felt breathing against his ear that sent shivers down his spine and he turned around to find out that the source was Seth. He was actually asleep.
Confused, he turned around and brushed a strand of his brown hair out of his face. He smiled when he saw his face scrunch up and a yawn escape from his lips.
When Seth opened his eyes, Kato smirked. "I thought you couldn't sleep."
"I don't have to." He muttered, leaning forward and nuzzling Kato's neck. "Doesn't mean I can't."
"I see." Kato giggled and wrapped his arms around Seth's middle. "Sleep well?"
"Very well. Been weak recently and needed the refreshment." He said, yawning again. "Been a long time since I've actually slept."
He hummed in response, smiling.
"Well." Seth shifted and sat up, stretching. "Let's go on that date I promised!"
"Oh, that's right." He must've forgotten about it as he slept. "Sure." He sat up as well, running his hands through his hair. His hair never did tangle easily. It was truly baffling.
"Come on Kitty. Get changed." He kissed his cheek and smirked. "Unless you want me to change you instead?"
He blushed and quickly stood, rolling his eyes. "As if!"
Seth pouted and walked to a dresser on the right. "I had them transfer my stuff in here so this will be our room." He winked.
Blushing once again, he nodded. "A-alright."
"When we come back, do you want to see your father's room?" Seth asked softly, looking at Kato carefully.
"His... room?" He muttered. "Can I think about that?" He asked, rummaging through his bag. What if he found something in there that he didn't want to see? What if that dream he had was actually his father? He knew he'd never seen him before then.
"Of course." He heard Seth walk over and kneel down behind him. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw him reaching forward to grab his hands. "I honestly can't force you to do anything." He laughed and pulled him onto his lap, pressing his lips against his cheek.
"Well, I'd hope so." He chuckled and intertwined their fingers together. "But know I don't want you being forced to do anything either."
"Oh, I know," Seth muttered against his cheek as he went to the side of his mouth and kissed it. "I know how you are. You're the kind of person who likes to help others. Controlling them would be against that."
"Mmm." He turned and placed his lips against Seth's before breaking away and raising an eyebrow. "I thought I was supposed to be getting dressed?"
Seth laughed and released him with a pout. "Fine, fine."
Kato giggled and brought out his clothes, standing up to change.
He heard Seth whistle, low and smooth. "Sexy."
Blushing, he turned around and folded his arms, shifting uncomfortably. "Ha ha."
He walked over, brushing a strand of hair from his face and looking him up and down. "Definitely."
He blushed harder and rolled his eyes. "Oh stop it."
"Never." He muttered, leaning forward and kissing him. "I compliment my Kitty without fail."
He kissed back and giggled before pushing him away. "I think you're forgetting we're supposed to be on a date."
He pouted. "Kiss me properly and we'll go."
Now that was something he could do. Smirking, he wrapped his arms around his neck and pulled him close, tilting his head slightly and pressing their lips together. Seth's arms wrapped themselves around his middle, pulling them together. Their lips moved in sync, his taste filling his mouth and making him groan.
"Now that's a kiss," Seth said, pulling away. "Definitely a kiss to remember."
Kato giggled. "Like I could ever forget." He rolled his eyes and steadied his harsh breathing. "You are intoxicating."
Seth raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Oh?"
He blushed as he realized what he just said. "Ah..." He turned away, blushing harder.
"Adorable," Seth muttered and he grabbed his hand, pulling him to the door. "Now let's get some food!"
"Sounds like a plan." He followed behind closely, the feeling of Seth's hand in his making his heart hammer. Such a small thing and yet such a big impact.
When they opened the door, they stopped. There stood Annie and Henry, both smirking and leaning against the back wall. "Hello there. We heard what you were talking about."
Kato's eyes widened and he blushed.
Seth walked forward and pinched Henry, who jumped to the side with a laugh and a smirk. "Anyways, if you're going to the human world, at least let us escort you." His face fell. "With your parents, the angels, and the humans trying to kill Kato let us help protect you."
"Huh?" Kato looked at Seth. Humans, too?
Seth shrugged. "Sure, you can drive us. But..." He pulled Kato to his side. "We're going in to eat alone. You have to wait in the car." Did he just say drive?
Annie rolled her eyes, pushing herself off the wall. She had taken off her armor and was now wearing a plain grey shirt and sweatpants. "Yes, yes. I know." She looked at Kato. "Good morning. Sleep well?"
He nodded and smiled. "Definitely. How are you?" He asked as they began heading down the hall.
"I'm doing great." She grinned. "Finally free to do as I please." She paused. "Though, you don't have to worry about me acting out and hurting people. I'm not that type of demon."
"I don't believe you are." He replied, leaning his head against Seth's shoulder.
She laughed and clapped her hands together. "Such a sweet kid! What a lucky catch, Seth!" She exclaimed happily.
Kato blushed and Seth laughed. "He's mine!"
"Oh, I thought he was mine," Henry said sarcastically and they all laughed.
They passed a couple of other demons who made small talk with them before moving on. It was oddly peaceful down there in the Underworld; unlike what he had thought it was before when he had thought he was human.
They entered a room he'd never been in before. There was a large door-shaped object in the middle that was filled with flames. It was oddly beautiful.
"This is the gate to the human realm," Seth explained. "The wall of Hell."
He nodded slightly, looking at it carefully. "Where does it lead?"
"Anywhere. Let's see..." He tilted his head. "Just think of where and it'll take you. Though, it takes practice. Just keep hold of me and you'll be fine."
Henry grabbed Kato's other hand, surprising him. Annie grabbed Henry's hand and it was like a train. He smirked and winked playfully and he rolled his eyes.
"Alright." Seth literally walked into it, tugging Kato behind, followed by the other two. They ended up in some kind of underground parking lot. There was only one car in it and it was grey. He wasn't a car person, especially after his mother died, so he avoided anything involved with them.
"Everybody in! I'm driving!" Annie said and Henry pouted. She gave him a stern look. "You ran into a tree last time because you couldn't bring yourself to slow down. So buckle in."
Seth opened the door and slid in, patting the seat next to him. Hesitating, he climbed in, shutting the door behind him. Buckling himself in, he stiffened. He hadn't been in a car in five years when he was brought to the apartment for the first time.
He felt Seth looking at him but couldn't bring himself to look back in case he saw the fear in his eyes. When the engine started, he jumped slightly, stiffening up more.
Seth's hand came over and rubbed his knee but that didn't really calm him. He actually didn't want him to do that. It reminded him of the way his mother had reached over to pat his head right before the car crashed.
"Alright, guys! Let's stop at the first food place we find! We're pretty far out from any cities so it might be a bit run down." Annie called out. "Hope you don't mind!"
"Sounds good," Seth said. When they began driving, Kato closed his eyes and leaned back, not wanting to see anything go past the windows or if they were going to crash. He needed his imagination right then. "Kato," Seth muttered in his ear and he jumped again, turning to look at him. He was looking back at him closely. "It's fine. We're demons. Pretty hard to kill us." He winked and he tried to smile but failed.
"Okay." That's all he could really say back. It wasn't enough to reassure him.
Seth sighed and unbuckled himself, surprising him as he actually crawled over and onto his lap.
"Hey!" Annie shouted and Seth rolled his eyes. "What're you doing? Ever heard of safety first?"
"Yeah, but I couldn't care less." He said. "You're the best driver out there. Not once have you gotten into an accident."
Kato tried pushing him off, his heart hammering in his chest as he started to panic. "Seth." He muttered, gritting his teeth. "Buckle back up. Please."
Seth raised an eyebrow and leaned down to kiss him but he turned away, frightened. "Please." He tried begging again but his face only turned hard as he reached forward, grabbed his chin, and kissed him.
While their lips were pressed together, he murmured. "I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. This car can't change that." He looked into his eyes sternly. "I'm a demon, remember? I may get injured and seriously hurt, but I won't die. I'm basically immortal. The only thing that can kill me is you, angels, and other demons. I'll protect you from a crash. We won't crash. It's smooth riding. I'm not driving, my sister is. I can sit here all day and nothing will happen."
Kato stared at him, speechless as he began kissing him again. He was trying to distract him. Nodding slowly, he gripped the hem of his shirt and kissed him back, tilting his head and closing his eyes. He allowed himself to relax and believe his words.
Seth sighed as if relieved and kissed him multiple times before breaking away and kissing different parts of his face like his nose, eyelid, cheek, and forehead.
"What are you doing Seth?" Henry said from the front seat. "We know you love him but damn. It's like you can't leave him alone."
"Of course not," Seth replied in a sing-song voice as he curled up on his lap, making him giggle. "He's special. So special that I can't take my eyes off him or I might lose him. He's just too damn adorable to be left alone anyways."
"Oh wow." Kato rolled his eyes. "Thanks." He said sarcastically.
"Of course." Seth kissed him again.
"We're here!" Annie sang out. The two of them were so alike.
He turned to look out the window. There was a two-story building in the middle of nowhere with motorcycles out front and other cars. It was pretty run down and a sign above the door read "D&H Restaurant" and the words "Danny and Henry" were written in small letters on the bottom. A man outside was looking carefully at us before going inside.
"This is it?" Kato asked as Seth got out and brought him with.
"Yeah. Never been here before but I heard it serves good breakfast foods." He wrapped his arms around his shoulders. "I might steal a bite of your food too."
Kato giggled and turned to wave at Henry and Annie before they walked up to the door. "I wouldn't mind that." He said, leaning his head on his shoulder like he normally did. Like he'll always do. "Not one bit."
