"I must agree with Bonnie; that costume does look a little cheap." Florence said.
I'd wished someone had told me that earlier.
"Please, she's feeling very nervous right now, so say positive things." My Mother said. "You know what, Barbara, you need to stop sheltering her so much!" Florence said, walking over to us.
"Excuse me?" My Mother said holding me in her arms tightly. "That is exactly why I suggested you bring her into school! She's afraid to talk to other human beings, because you keep her inside the house. Lyrical and Bonnie are very independent-"
"Bernardette, has a different personality! Lyrical and Bonnie are naturally independent." My Mother yelled.
"Talking to people isn't that hard, sweetie,"
Florence said grabbing my hair from bother sides making pony-tails with his hands.
"Nobody's going to kill you, or judge you. No matter what your mother says." My Mother, at this point had a bloody red face.
"Excuse me!? Ugh, why do you always---" My Mother began yelling but Lyrical interrupted, "Would you stop screaming," Lyrical hissed finally leaving the bathroom. "Your going to put yourself into labor." For some reason, Lyrical popped straight out of the shower and he got dressed even though his hair was still wet.
"Come on, Bernardette." Lyrical calls as he runs down the stairs.
"Maybe I'll stay home." I murmured.
"Nonsense! It's quite rude to reject an invitation, isn't it, Barbara?" Florence said. I looked at my Mother, who had just plastered a smile on her face.
"Surely. Go ahead, Bernardette." I moaned loudly as I followed Lyrical and Bonnie out the door. The second we closed the door, they began to argue again. I'm pretty sure everyone in the neighborhood heard them. "It sounds like two crazy women about to have a five hour argument in there." Lyrical said crossing the street. I giggled, because I thought I was the only one that thought Florence's voice was really gentle. Chase and Melody's house was on the prettiest part of the neighborhood, it had lots of pretty houses with mini flower gardens in front; which was funny because our house didn't even have a door mat. Lyrical rang the doorbell, and I naturally, hide behind him. I'm just short and skinny enough to hide behind him, and totally not being able to be seen.
"Hi, you guys!" Melody greeted. "Thank you!" Melody said to them (I assumed they had given her birthday presents, but I wouldn't know because I was still behind Lyrical.) I quickly came from behind him and handed Melody her gift, which was the first ten episodes of "Pretty Face!" On DVD. Melody was talking to Lyrical and Bonnie at the front door for a really long time, and while they were talking I noticed the porch was vibrating and beating like a heart. At first, I thought we might have been having a mini earthquake, but once we were in side the house I quickly realized that it was all the people in the house. At that moment, I had made up a long, strategic, and complex plan that could help me have a excellent reason to leave, but I thought about how Melody invited me, it was probably out of pity, but it was still nice of her.
"Oh my god! Chase, we're, like totally matching!" Bonnie yelled to Chase who was on the other side of the room. She probably thought that she was cute for doing something like that, but if you were to ask me, I'd say it was obnoxious. Chase waved back to her from the table with chips and dips. Chase was dressed like a guy who cleaned the pirate ship, though I originally thought he was going to be the captain. Melody, was talking to Lyrical, Chase was talking to Bonnie, and I knew no one else at that party so I sat down behind the huge island in the kitchen and tried to think of things that made me happy.
Cupcakes, hearts, lipstick, bow-ties, bunnies, roses, figure-skating, my cellphone, my giant stuffed bear, and gummy candies.
My Mother said that listing things that make you happy helps when you're feeling negative, but that time didn't work. I felt like I could have died in that house, with the loud people and the annoying beauty obsessed girls who came into the kitchen time to time to use the pots as mirrors. I was sitting behind the counters unnoticed for about two hours.
"What cha doing?" I heard out of nowhere. I tried to ignore it for a few minutes, hoping the voice who go away.
"Hey, it's you!" The deep-ish voice says directly to me.
I finally stand up. "Robbie!?" I shrieked.
"So," Robbie says, while jamming his hand into a bag of chips. "Armstrong kicked you off, huh?" Robbie had asked.
"H-How do you know that!?"
"I was there. Everyone was there." Robbie replied.
"How are we going to perform without the star, now? Have you spoken to Tammy, yet?"
I dropped my head. "N-no. So he didn't replace me?"
"No. He's picking me up tonight, so maybe you could talk to him then."
