Arc 5
The only survivors of Delta 818 walked across the barricaded walls on the border of Canada. Jessica kept crying the whole way, as Dawn choked back tears. Why did things have to be this way? Monterey, the Canadian soldier, escorted them out the border. “Can we go to my mom’s house?” The soldier stayed silent. “I know the address..” Again, the soldier did not speak. He brought them to a bus. There were other people there. The soldier gave a look to Dawn and Jessica. His face showed sadness. He closed the bus doors.
Dawn was sad, yet relieved. She had made it out alive. But she felt devastated that Carter, Angelo, Danny, and Mike, did not get out of that death train. Dawn saw that the bus started. A tall, dark skinned boy, stood in the front. His name was Jackson. He spoke, his voice filled with confidence,”Guys. We are all survivors. We must stick together. Whatever happens.”
Darrick, a small, but buff guy, challenged the idea. “What if you became infected?” Everyone agreed with Darrick, and they watched their backs.
The bus suddenly started, startling everyone. Dawn held Jessica tightly to her chest. Jessica stayed near Dawn.
The ride lasted for ten minutes, but for the riders, it lasted for an hour. Jackson paced the bus, looking at the closed off driver’s section. The windows were tinted, so they could not see the driver. “Ugh. Hey kid!” Dawn was asleep, but the sudden yell woke her up. A boy, sixteen, helped Jackson. His name was Crawl. “Pry it open on three. One, two-!”
The bus suddenly stopped, throwing Crawl to the side, as Jackson fell. The door swung open, slamming Jackson on the head. “Agh!” He yelled in pain.
A soldier, with their nametag reading Kodiak, started to speak “Do not interrupt. You will follow me.” Kodiak was wearing a gas mask. Dawn wondered why he was wearing the mask. Another guy, named Dinero, looked outside.
There were huge, yellow, tents, and people walking around, coughing, with masks. There were signs on the tents, and a biohazard sign. They stared at the huge sign, QUARANTINE ZONE.
