Charles chuckled as the bag of ships practically exploded and chips flew everywhere “I wouldn't have to if you could at least open them properly. I swear you eat like you're 10.” I laugh picking up the chips from the floor and putting them in the nearby trashcan “shut up! I do not! It's just, these bags of chips are always exploding. It's not just me.” I said sticking my tongue out teasingly at Charles like I really was 10 again.
“Yeah? Well you sure act like you're 10.” Charles said laughing and instinctively avoiding the punch I threw at his shoulder “Yeah, yeah. Shut up.” I said playfully pouting then laughing only seconds later when Charles decided to mock my facial expression.
The bell rang a few moments later and of course I shove the snack back into his bag along with the pop I had been drinking, then handed him his bag as I stood up grabbing mine “Why do you always put your snacks back in my bag? You know you could always just put them in yours.” Charles said raising an eyebrow at me.
“Yeah but if I didn't you'd finally have to carry your own books to class and I'd be stuck with all the snacks that you end up eating when you go home anyway.” I laughed, heading towards our first class; English.
We walk out of the school and towards the portables. I open the door to the portable on the right and hold the door open for Charles as we walk into our class and sit down in some new seats that will probably no longer be ours starting next class. The class begins and the teacher decides to put on some classic rock while we all get comfortable and chat for a few minutes. The second the music stops we all look forward as if by a command that was never given.
The teacher looked at all of us and gave us the usual who he is and what made him want to be a teacher, and of course the what is to be expected about the year speech. After the teacher went through everything and we got to know him we were all told to head up to the library and grab the “textbook” Tigers of the Snow. “It's not even a textbook it's just a book we have to read.” Charles said with a snarky tone.
“True. Very true. But I mean we also have to study the book so I can see why it's considered a textbook.” I say after laughing at his remark.
We walk up to the counter and ask for our books then head back off towards the class. After class ends, we hurry up to the top floor for biology and are met with the same introduction from this teacher as the last. After biology the bell to say that school is over rang and Charles and I couldn't have jumped up fast enough, we practically ran out of the school.
“Freedom!” I yelled excitedly waving my hands in the air as Charles and I walked out the front doors of the school. Charles just stared at me unimpressed while I flail my arms like a lunatic. “Don't hate the player hate the game.” I said teasingly.
“Oh trust me, I hate both.” Charles said with a laugh.
I shoved him playfully “ass.” I remark as we head down the long ass hill that leads to the highway close to my house. I slow down and start walking behind Charles who of course knows that in about 10 seconds I'll be stealing some more snacks out of his bag. “Really? We're not even at your place yet.” He states with an irritated tone in his voice.
“Hey now, I bought the snacks and I just so happen to be hungry.” I said mockingly.
“More like munchy.” he retaliates. I grab my chips, close up his bag and pick up a bit of speed so that I am once again walking beside him.
We finally make it to the highway that it only a few minutes away from my house. After walking for a bit longer we make it to the road my house in on and hear a scream from not too far away, “Holy shit, what was that?!” I practically yell, facing Charles.
Charles turned towards me, just as shocked “I think it’s coming from over there.” He said pointing to the wooded area that surrounds my neighborhood.
