High schoolers roamed the party, drinks in their hands. Their bodies grinded together, creating a sweltering heat within the beating house of Crimson.
Alekto was no different. For once in her life, she left herself go. The alcohol burned at her throat. Lipstick stained the rim of her solo cup. Savannah's grip around Alekto's wrist never decreased.
Savannah pulled Alekto along, bringing her to the sight of Crimson and Dallas Black. He stood with a red solo cup in his hand, an arm around Crimson's waist as she talked to different people.
"Crimson!" Savannah called over the music. The girl's head whipped around to face Savannah, and a grin split her face. They hugged as if they were long lost friends.
"Who is this?" Crimson questioned, raising an eyebrow at Alekto. "You look familiar."
"Alekto," Savannah introduced, pushing the aforementioned girl forward. She was careful to make sure her drink didn't spill out of her cup.
"Oh, I know you! You were in my class! Tardies, right?" Crimson laughed. A blush covered Alekto's cheeks when she remembered all the times she's shown up late to class. It wasn't an uncommon occurrence.
An entire wall dedicated to tardy slips signified that.
"I'm going to go dance," Alekto finally decided. Savannah nodded, engrossed in her conversation with Crimson to really hear what Alekto was saying. She quietly slipped away from the group to join the mass body of sweating high schoolers.
How Crimson's parents let her have this party is beyond Alekto. Her parents were more concerned with academics than anything. A party this big would be a definite "no" in her house.
Her eyes closed with the beat of the music, dancing like she never had before. Sure, she's danced around her bedroom. But this was an actual party. Nobody invited the nerdy, tardy girl to parties.
The next time Alekto opened her eyes was to see Michael, Michael, in front of her. They were dancing together, she realized. Her and her crush were dancing together.
She quickly shut her eyes again to avoid seeing him dance with her.
"I'm Michael!" he yelled to her over the music. A curse word left her lips as she was forced to open her eyes again.
"Alekto!" she greeted.
"Alekto?" Michael questioned, his eyes widened. "I know you! You're in my psy class, right?"
Meekly, Alekto nodded. Alcohol burned her throat as it flew down.
"Well, Alekto, you look great," Michael complimented. Another blush coated Alekto's cheeks.
"Thanks, Michael," Alekto said, picking up courage the longer she was with him. This is why she had a crush on him. He was so easygoing and charismatic, it was hard not to like him like him.
The song ended, and Alekto made a move to exit the dancefloor. Michael quickly caught her wrist with wide eyes.
"Another dance? Please?" Michael said, all but begging for the girl to stay.
She bit her lip, debating her options. Off the dancefloor, she saw Savannah waving to her. The girl wore a smile on her face as she still stood next to Crimson and Dallas. Instead of listening to her call, Alekto mouthed back, "In a little bit."
Her and Michael danced to the song the shook the house on its foundation, their own sweaty bodies mixing together within the dance.
It was at the very end of the song did Michael pull her away from the dancefloor. Couples stood around the back patio of Crimson's house, some playing beer pong.
The moment the cool air enveloped Alekto's body, she found herself looking into the eyes of Michael.
Her fingers grabbed his cheeks, pressing his mouth to her's in a split second decision. A chaste kiss, her first kiss.
With a grin, Alekto quickly backed away from Michael and ran back to the party.
Michael was left to the cool air as he revelled in the tingling feeling of his lips.
