I open my eyes and see blue. Sky blue with puffy, white clouds. I couldn’t find the sun, but it was still day. Feeling the green grass poking my body, I laid there, looking up at the sky. No thoughts were in my mind and I felt nothing in my heart.
“Do I have a dream?” I ask myself.
“I do!” A girly boy appears in my sight.
“Hello, Gin.” I greet him in a monotone voice.
“My dream is stupid.” Gin looks at the grass next to my head sorrowfully.
“How so?” I ask.
“I want my brother back.” He answers.
“You love him?” I ask again.
“Not really. I just want the brother I used to have back.” He then disappears.
I slowly sit up from my rest and slowly move my head to the sides. All there was grassy hills and nothing else.
I turn to my left for the 10th time, and meet with a pair of lime-green eyes.
“I have a dream…” His scratchy voice speaks.
“Hello, Clude.” I response with a greeting.
“I wish for happiness…” He wishes.
“What kind?” I ask.
“Happiness to my parents and my late brother…” His smile fill with sorrow.
“You miss your brother?” I ask again.
“Dearly…” He disappears.
I push myself up from the ground and didn’t lose balance. I attempt to take to take a few steps, but I couldn’t move. I decided to turn around, to see brown eyes.
“I also have a dream.” He speaks.
“Hello, Akito.” I couldn’t say anything else.
“I wish to be free.” His blank expression doesn’t change.
“How so?” Why can’t I say anything else?
“To be free from my dad’s hands and have more friends.” Again. He’s gone.
I turn back around and move forward. Going down the hill, I kept my ice blue eyes to the sky. I kept moving until I couldn’t move. There in front of me, was someone with long, light brown hair.
“I have a dream too.” She tells.
“Hello, Aiko.” I want to stop.
“I wish for my best friend.” She smiles happily.
“How exactly?” Why do I ask?
“All I want is him to be happy.” Why do they leave?
My feet started moving again, going up a hill. I didn’t feel tired, nor sleepy. The trip was nothing. Before I reached the top, I stopped. I see someone with their roots dyed blonde.
“I have a dream, as well.” He tells as well.
“Hello, Rato.” I need to stop.
“I wish to be normal.” He smiles proudly.
“How so?” Why do I keep asking?
“No one likes a narcissist and no one notices someone short. But he did.” Don’t leave.
I moved to the top of the hill and stop again. I didn’t want to stop. I see the most beautiful girl. But I knew this wasn’t a girl.
“I have a dream like him.” He smiles sweetly.
“Like how?” I can’t stop.
“I want to look more like a boy and not be treated like a woman.” He huffs.
“What are you?” I know the answer.
“Someone who is me and not a lie my parents raised.” He disappears too?
I bend down far enough for my head to touch the ground. I could see more hills between my legs, nothing else. I bring myself back up, meeting with blonde locks.
“I-I can h-have a d-d-dream too…” The emerald green eyes boy stutters.
“Hello, Uten.” Please stop.
“I-I-I d-don’t want t-to b-b-be a-afraid…” He slightly cowers in fear.
“Of what?” I already know.
“P-people w-w-who I-I wanna b-be friends w-with…” Don’t leave me.
My feet start rotating in place with my body spinning with them. I continue to spin and spin until I fell on my back again. But my head didn’t hit the dirt covered by grass; I felt something much softer.
“Surprise, I got a dream.” He tells while looking down at me.
“Hello, Joshua.” Please, I want to stop.
“I wish for normality.” He flips his bangs back, but they fell back into place.
“Another one?” I don’t want to ask.
“Not really. Just want everyone around me to be normal with a normal life.” He laughs as he disappears.
I feel the grass on my head again. I didn’t move an inch for a while and stare at the sky with the clouds slowly moving. I hear crunching grass and something sit next to my laid body.
“I got a dream too.” The boy with pigtails speak.
“Hello, Yuuri.” No more.
“I want to be someone’s friend.” He smiles sweetly.
“Who?” I know this; please stop.
“Someone who I also want to be.” He’s gone.
I hear glass breaking.
I can’t move.
It’s coming closer and closer.
I can’t move and talk.
The sky is gone.
I can’t move, talk, nor scream.
“Heika? You awake?’ A familiar voice asks me.
I open my eyes and see the sky. But there’s the white sun.
“I’m awake now.” I point out the obvious.
“I can tell.” He smiles down at me.
“Good morning, Shiro.” I smile kindly back with a greeting.
“It’s still lunch time.” He tells.
“It is? I thought we were skipping P.E.” I sit up from Shiro’s lap.
“If we were, we be in a café, ordering us something to eat.” Shiro jokes.
I didn’t respond to his joke. The dream in my head was being replayed over and over. Trying to find the meaning behind it. Did it mean that everyone is getting depressed without my knowledge? Or is it something else much bigger? Why did everyone tell me their dreams? Why couldn’t I do anything else? Why wasn’t Shiro there? Does he have a dream?
“Heika? You’re frowning.” Shiro points out.
“I am? Sorry!” I apologize.
“Do you have an idea for the assignment?” Shiro asks.
“What was the prompt again? The dream I just had left me in a mess.” I pout childishly.
“’What’s our dream?’”
“What?” I turn to him, puzzled.
“That’s the prompt.” He ensures it.
“So that’s why I had that dream…” I say out loud, feeling stupid.
The more I think about, the more I remembered that earlier in the day that everyone told each other’s dreams. Gin’s was his brother, Clude is happiness for his scumy parents, Akito is for his scumy father in jail, Aiko wished happiness for Shiro, which he insulted her in reply, Rato wants to be taller, Yuka’s to look more like a boy, Uten wants to get rid of his gynophobia, Joshua just complained that he’s the only normal one despite him being a goth, Yuuri still wants to be my friend, then…
“Shiro, you said your dream was a secret.” I point him out.
“That’s because you’re my dream.” He bluntly states.
“Huh?” I felt my cheeks warm up a bit.
“My dream is to finally be engaged to you.” He looks at my eyes as he places his hand on top of mine.
“Shiro’s making me blush…” I turn away from him in embarrassment.
“What’s Heika’s dream?” He asks.
“My dream?” I repeated his question.
“Is it still to rid the scum on this world?” He asks again.
“It’s one of them, but I have many dreams.” I smile.
“Expected; of course, my future wife has a lot of dreams.” He proudly state as he rests his head on my shoulder.
The smile on my face was cheerful, but went to gentle and peaceful. I’m not sure what he means by my “dream”, but I know what my wish is: to make my children’s wishes come true.
