Drake and his Dad moved in after a month, because they had to tell their landlord that they were moving and they already paid for the month that just ended. Dad and I helped them move into our garage. It took a whole entire day to load and unload the truck. Tomorrow, we're going to help them arrange their furniture, which Mom is going to help with. The garage is like a totally different house, because there is no door leading into the house from there, but it's on the property, so they are really close.
"Can I sleep here tonight?" Drake asked, pointing at my bed.
"If you're willing to share." I said. Drake smiled.
"Of course, Nick." Drake said. Mom was at the door, looking like she was about to knock.
"Nick, doesn't your bed have a trundle bed underneath that can make the bed bigger?" Mom said. I blinked and gave her a quizzical look.
"I completely forgot about that." I said.
"You should use it." Mom said.
"Uh..." I said, "So, what were you going to ask, Mom?" Mom put her fore finger on her lips to think.
"Oh!" Mom said as she moved her hand away from her mouth, "That's right! Dinner! Drake, your father made something for us. Why don't we all eat together?" Drake's smile got bigger. Mom left to go get my sister.
"Come on, Nick!" Drake said, "Hopefully Dad made mac and cheese!" I gave Drake a look, but he didn't seem to notice.
"What's so special about mac and cheese?" I asked. Drake gave me an are-you-serious look.
"He has the best recipe for it." Drake said, "It's so good." We practically ran down the stairs and went into the dining room to sit down.
It turns out that Drake was so right about the mac and cheese. It had onions in it or something, because it was so sweet, but also super delicious.
"So, where can I sleep tonight?" Drake's Dad asked.
"The couches are open." Dad said, "One of them is a pull out bed. Where is Drake sleeping?" Drake and I looked at each other.
"Drake's sleeping in my room." I said.
"Please tell me that only one of you will sleep on the bed..." Isabel said, "I do not want to wake up to... you know..." Drake and I blushed.
"No!" I said, "I have a trundle bed, Drake's going to sleep on that." Isabel glared at us. It was clear that she wanted nothing to do with this living arrangement.
"I wish I could have a boyfriend over..." Isabel muttered.
"Isabel, what did you just say?" Mom asked.
"Nothing, Mom." Isabel said.
"It didn't sound like nothing." Mom said.
"Honey, calm down." Dad said, "We have the Horner's here."
"Okay..." Mom said, "But don't think that I'm letting you off next time, Isabel." Isabel closed her eyes for a good two minutes and then she went back to eating.
"Sorry, they're not like that normally." Dad said.
"Oh, it's okay, Mr. Favaer." Drake's Dad said.
Soon, dinner was finished and Drake and I were sitting on my bed facing each other.
"This is interesting." Drake said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Your sister really doesn't like this situation." Drake said. I sighed.
"Of course she wouldn't." I said, "She's never had a boyfriend over, let alone have him sleep over. She's jealous."
"If I was in her shoes, I'd be jealous too." Drake said, "I mean, I can kiss you all I want." Drake pulled me close and we kissed.
We kissed a lot before we fell asleep, him on the trundle bed and me on my bed.
