Ash was coping surprisingly well with this new update of info. Fall, on the other hand, wasn’t doing too well.
“I don’t understand!” Fall cried. “How could it have been your dad? He didn’t even know my parents. Why would he want to kill them?”
“There was always something strange about him” Ash answered. “He was never really peaceful at all, but I never thought it would come to this.”
“We can’t just sit here while a murderer is running loose! We have to do something! Is there any way to track him or something?”
“Not really. The closest thing I have is a collection of postcards he sent me and a map.”
“Actually, we can use those. Can you get then for me?”
“Sure, but I can’t see how you would use those.”
By the end of an hour, Fall had constructed a map starting in Cork and ending somewhere in Greenland, using the date and return address on the postcards.
“How’d you do that?” wondered Ash.
“A little thing I call magic.” Said Fall. “Nah, I’m kidding. I just marked each location, and then connected the dots based off of the date it was sent.”
“Hey, the first location isn’t that far from here. Dublin, Ireland. That’s only a few miles away!”
“Here, we’ll go get some supplies. Then we can go. ”
Fall and Ash went around the house, gathering things that seemed like they would be useful. Some of these items included: two backpacks, four flashlights, ten batteries, six packs of beef jerky, twelve water bottles, two blankets, two first aid kits, a pocket knife, and a tent.
They were only able to carry all of this because Ash had just gotten her driver’s license last month, and her own (used) car last week.
“Ash!” called Fall. “Are you ready yet?”
“Almost! I’m just getting my license out of my drawer in case any cops get suspicious.”
Ash came down with her driver’s license a few minutes later.
“Alright, kid. Time to hit the road.”
