You may not realize it,
But word hurt.
So many people use words as weapons,
Each having their own arsenal stocked up.
At home weapons aren’t as strong,
But at school it is a battle ground.
People getting shot down by “friends”.
Teachers turn from our saviors,
To our brothers in arms.
we deliver anguish to others and don’t expect it back,
Oh but how it comes.
For some it comes in snickers and laughter,
Along with accomplishment.
But for me,
It comes in a title wave remarks.
Drenching me in the feeling of abandonment.
Everyday is a war,
A war with others.
She became her own war,
When she was shot down.
Battling how she felt and what she was doing,
She put up her wall.
She separated herself from others,
Trapping herself with her monsters.
Your words became trapped in her mind,
And they became her monsters.
Tearing her apart from the inside out.
He was a reason she was broken.
His remarks lead her to a path which many suffer through,
But no one saw.
He tormented her day after day,
But no one cared.
He made her question life,
But no one will ever know.
Depression.
The aftermath of your cruelty.
Something that could have been avoided,
But wasn’t.
Though words hurt,
Kindness is stronger.
It overpowers the hurt,
Coating you with that warm feeling,
Letting it simmer until you can’t help but smile.
The effect of your kindness can change a person.
That kid whose agender and doesn't identify with anyone else,
That guy that everyone picks on cause he cross dresses,
Oh, or that girl that’s gay but still is pretty cool.
All of them need your kindness,
So this month,
Spread the word.
“You is kind,
You is smart,
And you is important.”
