“As I was saying, Mr. Bailey please take a seat in one of the empty ones available,” Mr. Evans continued. Andy stared directly at me while walking to an empty space near the third row from the bottom of the desks. He broke the eye contact. There was an empty space right in front of me. He took it, and got out his things, while Mr. Evans continued with class. Mr. Evans was rated high on the review website for teachers. I was glad I got into his class, but now I’m rethinking this whole arrangement. I’ve never been so stunned to see someone in my whole life. Andy was like a ghost ever since that day he saved my life, and I found out that even if a person saves your life it doesn’t mean they are kind. Then again, he never asked for a reward, and never asked for my number, which was kind of my fault. I mean was it really the right thing to ask for after saving a dude from almost getting flattened on the pavement?
During class, all I could think about was the fact that I had the guy who saved my life all those months ago, in front of me in my music class. I picked up my pen and poke him, once, twice. “What?” Andy asked in a hushed tone, turning around for the briefest of moments. “I don’t know if you remember me, but you saved my ass a few months back. I just wanted to say thank you.” I said in a hushed tone as well.
He turned around again, and said, “No problem?” To me that sounded more like a question than a confirmation. So, I proceeded to say, “Meet me after class ends at the library entrance.” He nodded and continued to listen to Mr. Evans lecture. I did the same.
The class ended with the bell. Everyone gathered their things and headed for the exit. I had about forty-five minutes before I had to get to my last class of the day. I waited near the entrance of the library for Andy. I felt someone staring at the back of my head. I could feel the emotions of somebody familiar; before they got too close I turned around a greeted, “Hi Ka, it’s been a while. How are your classes going?” I asked her. She replied, “They are okay, how about yours?” “They are fine. Hey, remember that jerk that saved my butt a few months ago?” I asked she nodded. “Well, you’ll never guess who just walked into my Music Theory class today.” She looked at me for a brief moment, then said, “The jerk?” I nodded. “Yep, and guess what.” “What?” she replied, “I’m meeting him here soon, and I’ll give him the fourth degree,” I answered.
We talked for a good three minutes more, and then after those minutes were up we said our goodbyes and see you later. That’s when Andy came and looked dumbfounded as if he just remembered who I was. I saw the light come on in his eyes. “I didn’t realize who you were until now. You’re the guy who I saved from that car a few months back. Holy cow how, have you been? Get almost hit by any more cars recently?” he asked with a small smirk on his handsome face.
Damn, I was not going to look at him like he was some piece of meat for display. I cleared my throat, and said, “The answer to your first question is that I’m fine. Your second one, ‘Not funny.’ I just wanted to know how did you find out that I go to this college?” I asked him with curiosity in my eyes. He stared at me for a moment before he spoke, “What? I didn’t know you went to this university. I just got here a couple of months ago when I saved your ass from that car. I don’t even know your name,” he said.
I blushed a little from embarrassment. “Sorry I just assumed that you knew to look for me here. I didn’t even think that maybe you just wanted to study at this university. Please forgive me?” I asked, hoping he’d do so. He thought for a moment then said, “You are forgiven. Seeing how you know my name, it’s only right that you tell me yours,” he said. I nodded, “Fair enough. My name is Stevan,” I said. He nodded then put out his hand for me to shake it. I took his hand and shook it. He said it was nice to officially meet me. I agreed and smiled. “It’s nice to meet you, officially to Andy,” I said to him.
