Cats

Cats

Dec 08, 2017

As you can probably tell from the thumbnail and banner, I love cats. They are amazing, selfish, weird, cute creatures, and I love every part of them. You are reading the rambling of a cat lady in the making. Cats could literally do that hairball-barf thing into my slippers, and I would totally forgi-well, I'd be a little pissed, but you get my point: I love cats to a fault.

When I was born, my parents already had two cats, Benjamin and Precious, raised from kittenhood; they (the cats, not my parents) died when I was young. They were really sweet to me, and even guarded my crib. But being the little shit I was, I discovered multiple times that tails are indeed attached to bodies. Who knew. Not me, after the scratches faded.

They had their quirks. Precious had a peculiar habit of eating spiders. Yes, spiders. She would walk around the house, and when someone would go to pet her, they would see a spider leg or two dangling out of her mouth. I'm really glad I don't have memories of this (my nightmares are...bad), but I do miss her particular skill set now, considering I start crying as soon as I see a spider (but that's a story for another time). I could just grab her and plop her in front of any spider I see on the wall, in a corner, or hanging right in front of me at 2 in the morning (like I said, for another time). Then I'd need to escape from the crunching sound afterwards.

When Precious was a kitten, she could fit in an empty tissue box without a problem, but as she grew older a paw would barely fit. She would waddle up to a tissue box and try to squeeze inside, but discover that she's aaaall grown up (overweight) and grown (overweight) cats can't fit inside tissue boxes. This is where Benjamin comes in. He was relatively boring compared to his sister (anybody would be), naturally skinny, and was a wuss whenever it came to what she wanted-as a result, she stole his food. First, Precious would finish hers, then look over at Ben as if to say, "you done?" Next, she would shove him out of the way and proceed to eat the rest of his food as if it were hers. So she became grown up (overweight) and no longer fit in a tissue box, and Ben got even meeker and skinnier.

They would get up to mischief together too. One time the air ducts' guards were removed, and so they went exploring in dusty, cramped passageways after removing the boxes placed in front so they didn't accidentally kill themselves. Precious would always initiate the curiosity, but Ben would keep it alive. There are many more stories about them, but I'll save those for later (ha, like anyone's reading except me).
