Kaori coughed repeatedly, reaching for the glass of water. When she got a hold onto the glass, a knock on the door startled her, causing the glass to slip out of her hands.
"Um... Sorry, but are you Kaori Shiromi?" A boy asked. "Y-yes, w-who are y-you?" She coughed between words. "You don't remember? I'm Tomoe Matsuki!" he replied, smiling. "R-really? You're him..?" Kaori teared up. "Yeah... I haven't seen you in a long time, and then I found out you were hospitalized. I didn't know..." Tomoe trailed off, feeling pity. "It's a-alright... I'm h-happy someone came t-to visit me.." Kaori wiped her tears away.
"What do you mean?" he questions, looking around to notice there were no cards or flowers for her. "My family gave u-up on me. They said I was a disgrace since no one in my bloodline had ever been sick enough to die. They said I should have died a long time ago if it wasn't for the doctors... My parents gave up, they left me at the hospital, they didn't bother to say goodbye..." Kaori started to cry gently.
"Well, they are stupid! They don't know how special you are! You are lucky you are alive now! You will live to the fullest! I will make that happen." Tomoe encouraged her. Kaori looked at him and started to sob.
"I d-don't want to die... I w-won't accept it. You m-make me believe that I will survive... So, please, promise that you won't leave me like I left you!" Kaori, once in a long time, stood up out of her hospital bed and jumped on Tomoe. "I'll always be here... I promise" Tomoe promised, hugged her back.
"But, step one, is to get you out of this hospital," he added after she stopped crying.
