The scent of the perfume she is wearing once again makes it's way into Kayden's nostrils, and almost intoxicates him all over again. He can feel himself getting lightheaded as the smell of her perfume lingers all around the room now. He takes a few steps back from her and the door, as he catches his breath his eyes never leave the security camera that is slowly turning toward where he is now standing.
"Send him in, and escort yourself back down to the lobby. This one, I want to interview myself. Thank you, for bringing him to me. But now you are excused, please see yourself back to the elevator." The man says loudly on the other end of the phone. The girl looks shocked at the man's response, as she opens her mouth to start to say something back to him but she glances at Kayden and decides against it. She hangs up the phone, then flashes Kayden a rehearsed smile.
"Good luck. You must be something special, for the boss to want to meet with you personally himself. He never wants to meet with new applicants right away. Especially, not on a first interview basis. Well, I got to get back downstairs so you and the boss can talk privately. I am sure you have a bunch of questions for him, don't hesitate to ask him anything." The girl tells Kayden, as he detects a bit of jealousy in her voice.
He wonders why she would be jealous of him when she already has been hired and he is just here for an interview. Nothing is set in stone for him, and already he can feel his knees beginning to buckle beneath him. He contemplates making a break for the elevator doors, but his feet seemed to be glued to the spot he is standing in. His eyes finally shift from the security camera to the girl with blue hair who has casually strolled back down to the elevator doors. He watches her slowly as she presses a button and the elevator changes its direction instantly as it begins to return back up to the floor where they are, then within minutes she is stepping through the elevator doors as they slide open. Closing the moment she is back in the elevator.
A loud clicking noise is heard from the metal door, as the handle turns wildly almost as if it is haunted. Kayden stands there watching it, as the sweat now runs down the side of his face like a waterfall flowing down the sides of his cheeks, and dripping down onto his brown jacket. The door swings open, and a man steps out locking his eyes with Kayden's eyes. His eyes widen in shock, as he stands there staring at the man in front of him.
"Kayden, I've been expecting you." The man tells him as he reaches out to shake Kayden's hand. Kayden gives him a quick half smirk and shakes his hand, as the man pulls him into the room behind the metal door. It quickly swings shut behind the two of them. The shadow of their feet walks back and forth underneath the door, as the girl in the elevator stares at the light underneath the doorway as the elevator slowly descends down. Once she is on that floor in the glass elevator shaft, she quickly lights up a cigarette and stares out at the ocean that now has a dark sky falling over-top of it. She watches as she holds her cigarette to her mouth, then taking a long draw off of it. She exhales the smoke into the elevator as she watches the last of the sunset's dying light slip away before her eyes, on the horizon that is now covered with an evening sky.
