I looked into the room that Cassidy was showing us, Jex walked in, and we all followed him, behind the door was a large living area, and a few doors. Cassidy walked in, and went straight into the door closest to us, I noticed that all the doors had little pictures on them, Cassidy’s had a tiny fire on it, the door next to hers had a little school bag with a face, the third door had a chibi ghost, the fourth door had a young doe, and the last door had a small silhouette of a human head. “Do the pictures have to do with our... abnormalities?” I asked, thinking of what word to use, “I guess..” Kaidie said, “I don’t know what else it would be...” If the pictures were based off our abilities, my room would be the one with a school bag, I opened the door, excepting a small, boring bedroom, but found that it was very fancy, in fact. At the far end of the room, there was a big window with a window seat, outside was the stars, but I could see that the sun was rising. On the right side of the window was a big bed with an intricately designed headboard. The sheets were black, the looked comfortable. On the left side of the window, there was a black desk and a rolling chair, on the dark was a computer, wait.. why did I get a free computer? Shouldn’t I have to pay? There must be something wrong with it! Was it a really old model? Did it have viruses? I opened it, to make sure it worked probably, ‘Hello, Owen Chaegada’ it said on the screen, ‘Please set a password’ there was a space to type, ‘Sara’ I typed, blushing a bit as my fingers hit the keys, ‘Please confirm password’ I typed it again, ‘Please choose a voice for your computer’ there were choices at the bottom of the screen like Female/Male, and too many accents to count, I ended up choosing Female, Korean because I found it funny that it sounded so similar to Sara’s younger sister, Hana. When I woke up the next morning, I smelled something good, I looked around me, remembering Amorphous, and realizing it wasn’t a dream; I then realized that I had fallen asleep at the computer, I stood up and walked out of my room, to see Cassidy cooking with the stove off, but it still looked like it was on, “It’s my ability.” Cassidy said, I was confused, “Fire. My ability is fire.” “Oh..” I said, “don’t we have to go to school today?” I said, realizing that it was 10:35 and Cassidy was in an undershirt and red and black striped pyjama shorts. “You guys don’t. I’m supposedly go today, but I’m skipping.” “Why?” I asked, “Because the stupid principal made me stay awake so long last night.” Cassidy said, “And I wanna meet you guys. Like, properly.” “Is.. anyone else awake?” I asked awkwardly, “You can go check. Maybe wake them up?” Cassidy said with a grin, as I walked over to Sara’s room and opened the door. I could feel my face get hotter, Sara wasn’t asleep, she was in the middle of the room, getting changed. I could only see her back, but it was still awkward, “Oh, hi Owen.” Sara said, noticing me, but she didn’t seam to care about the situation, “Hi... I need to go...” I said, surprised I was able to talk, “Okay, bye.” Sara said as I was closing the door. Knowing what happened with Sara, I knocked before entering Kaidie’s room, and the door opened, Kaidie was standing in front of me, you aren’t cooking meat, are you?” Kaidie asked, concerned. “Nope, I was told this morning that I’m living with a vegetarian” Cassidy said from behind me, Kaidie smiled, I moved out of her way and knocked on Jex’s door, he didn’t answer, so I assumed he was asleep, and didn’t enter. Sara walked out of her room, completely clothed now, in a striped blue and black shirt, a black pleated miniskirt, and blue thigh-highs. “So, what are we doing today?” She asked, “You guys are getting used to Amorphous.” Cassidy said, walking over with plates for us of scrambled eggs, “I can help you with anything you need.” We all day at the table to eat our breakfast, there was an empty chair though. Cassidy stood up and walked into Jex’s room. A few minutes later, they both came out to eat. Jex looked really tired, “Hi.” He said, his eyes almost closed, “He wasn’t asleep. He’s been playing video games all night.” Cassidy said, “Anyway, I have your food.” She handed him a plate of breakfast. “So.” Cassidy said as Jex took the plate, realizing it was there, “What’s your favourite colour?” “Blue.” Sara said bluntly, “Black..” I said, “Pink” Kaidie said quietly, “I have too many... to pick one” Jex said with a yawn, “Mine’s red.” Cassidy said, walking over to the kitchen area, and opening a few cabinets, she took out a mug and coffee beans, she poured the coffee beans and some water into the mug, then mixed it. She held the mug for a few seconds, and it started to emit steam. Cassidy walked over to the couch and sat down, drinking her coffee. “Oh. I should show you guys the shops downstairs.” Cassidy said, “Get dressed.” I blushed, realizing that I hadn’t gotten changed last night, I was still wearing the Amorphous uniform, Kaidie was wearing a purple long-sleeved shirt and deep purple with slightly lighter, muted purple pants, Jex hadn’t changed into pyjamas either. I went over to my room, opened the door, and went inside. Once the door was closed, I started to get undressed. I took me shirt off, now I could see the giant scar on my chest; there were a lot of scars on my body, a small one on my right cheek, right under my eye. The doctors never stitched that one, they just put a bandaid on it and said it was fine. There were a few scars on my arms and legs, but none were as bad as the one on my chest. It was all my parents’ fault. If they hadn’t gone away that day, the people wouldn’t have gotten me. When I was a kid, only about nine years old, we moved into a new country, next to a family of a man and his daughters, a girl my age, and one about a year younger. I quickly became friends with the girl my age, her name was Sara Kayo. About two years after we had moved, my parents decided that it was a great idea to go on vacation, and leave a kid who was only barely eleven years old all by himself for two weeks, I was fine for the most part, but a few days after they left, I went outside, there was a man laying on the sidewalk, I didn’t know what happened, and I walked over to make sure he was okay, but when I got closer to the man, he grabbed my ankle, I fell backwards, hitting my head on the sidewalk. I couldn’t move my body, was I paralyzed? I could hear the sound of a car driving up next to me, the door opened, and a woman with long black hair stepped out, she knelt down next to me, and I felt her press a needle into my neck. When I woke up, I was tied up. “Finally.” Said a smooth, feminine voice, I opened my eyes, who was talking? “Normally, they only sleep for like thirty minutes...” In front of me was the woman with the black hair, she was the one talking... to me? “Oho? Is it awake?” Said another one, this one was raspy and it sounded painful to talk, I noticed a man standing next to the woman, “Where are we going to cut first?” The man said, “Shouldn’t we introduce ourselves before we do anything?” The woman asked evilly, “Fine.” Replied the man, disgustingly disappointed, “Owen Chaegada. Son of Yeong-Ho Chaegada. Owen, do you know what your father does for a living?” The woman asked, grinning. I didn’t answer, and there was a sharp pain in my cheek, there was another man behind me with a knife, I shook my head, not wanting to be cut more, “Your Father is a part of an agency made to stop people like us, he has been on our list for a while. Do you know why?” I didn’t want to answer, and my left thigh started to sting, so I shook my head reluctantly. “Owen. Your father, Yeong-Ho Chaegada has been putting people like us into jail... and worse... for years, since before he even met your mother.” The woman with the black hair said, her piercing blue eyes seemed to be glowing with insanity, “Owen. Do you know who I am?” I didn’t. I figured that I wasn’t going to stay alive through all this anyway, so I might as well have just sat there and let them kill me. The man behind me proceeded to stab and slice all over my arms and legs, “It looks like you’ve stopped answering. I might as well just tell you then, my name is Alexandra Crescent. Have you heard your father talk about me?” The woman said, and the man cut open my chest, it hurt much more than the rest of the wounds. Alexandra stood up, the two men did two, and they walked away, leaving me to bleed out. I started crying, my chest... my arms... my legs... my face... everything hurt. I felt weak. Powerless. I knew I was going to die. I knew that if I had transformed into a rabbit or something from the start, I probably could have gotten away, but I hadn’t thought about that then, and if I did it now, I would die quicker, and it would hurt more. But then I heard it. A scream... from Sara. “Dad! Come here, I need help!” I hadn’t realized where I was. They had brought me under the bridge in the woods behind my house... and Sara had found me, she had saved my life. I heard running footsteps, Sara’s father came down to where I was, he called an ambulance and carried my to his house. Soon after, the ambulance arrived. I was losing vision from blood loss, but I could feel someone carry me inside, and they put me to sleep. When I woke up, I was in a hospital bed, I was all bandaged up... but I was alive. Because Sara found me, I looked around, Sara and Hana where sitting by my bed, Sara was crying into her father’s arm, Hana noticed that I was awake, “Sara.” She said calmly, “He’s awake.” Sara’s head swung around to look at me, she started to cry even more, “You’re alive!” She whimpered through her tears, “I’m sorry, I should have found you earlier!” I started crying too, I was happy to be alive, and I couldn’t believe I was, “Thank you.” I said quietly. “Without you, I’d be dead.” I owe my live to Sara, I thought, opening the closet, not knowing if anything was in there, surprisingly, there was actually a lot of clothing, I pulled out some random outfit and put it on. With a black sweater. I walked over to the door, opened it, and walked out, I noticed another door hidden around a corner, ‘That must be the bathroom...’ I thought to myself. I walked over and opened the door, I walked over to the sink and washed my face, I looked through the drawer under the sink, hoping to find what I was looking for, I was pretty sure it was something that Jex would mention, ‘I found it!’ I pulled out a stick of concealer in my skin tone, I’ve been wearing concealer for a while to cover up the scar on my face. I wear long sleeves and pants to cover up my other scars. The bad part about concealer though, is that it never covers the scar completely. You can always kind of see it. I finished, and walked out, ready to go. Everyone had gotten dressed, they were probably waiting for me. “Let’s go.” Cassidy said, opening the front door and letting us walk through. We entered the hallway, and Cassidy lead us to the end of the hallway, to the frosted glass door to the elevator. We stepped inside, and Cassidy pressed one of the buttons next to the door. The door opened, and in front of me, I saw a long hallway of just shops. There were bookstores, clothing stores, makeup stores, craft stores, and more. Too many to count. We stepped out of the elevator, and Cassidy handed everyone a small brown envelope, “Spend it wisely.”
