My eyes flutter open due to the curiosity the warmth coming from my chest stirs up. I look down and see Sam snuggled up against me. I slowly roll out of my bed and grab my phone. When I turn it on, the screen reads 4:17. Its hard to believe I've been asleep that long. Growling from my belly makes me aware of the hunger tugging at my stomach. I tip toe to the door, down the hall, and down the steps, in fear Jared will still be mad. I made it downstairs to find no one on the couch. No sign of living life in the dining room where our small table sits either. I turn into the kitchen to find a note on the counter;

                                 Iris,

    Me and the guys are going out for the night. Don't expect me back until well after 2 am.

Wow, such a surprise he is going out again, I think sarcastically. Suddenly an idea creeps into my mind. I run into the laundry room and grab two suitcases. I race upstairs and throw open my bedroom door. I drop the suitcases and rush over to my brother who lays, still asleep on the bed. I pet his short brown hair and kiss him on the forehead. His eyes flutter open. He sits up and rubs his confusion glazed eyes.  He looks around the room and spots the suitcases. 

"Iris?"

"Hhm?"

"What's going on?" 

I plop next to him on the bed. "Well, Sam." I start. I stare into his bright blue eyes and realize I don't know how to explain to him of what we are doing. I take a deep breath and try to explain. "Are you happy here?"

"Iris? What do you mean?"

"I am not happy here Sam, and I got an scholarship to New York. I thought you would like to come with me. We have enough money to stay in a hotel, until I find an apartment. I haven't spent any of Mom or Dads money. So, ready for an adventure?"

Sam nods his head vigorously. His big eyes glitter of excitement as a huge smile creeps on his face. I walk over to the door and pick up one of the suitcases. 

"Okay then, pack up!"
