Jayden’s pov

As Lili told me, the key to open the house was in the same place as always, under the ‘’welcome’’ carpet at the door step. I took it and then made my way inside her home, her parents were sleeping so I had to make the way to her room silently. I tossed my bag on the floor to later make myself comfortable on the blue plush sofa she has on her bedroom. I love to sit and sleep there, it’s very comfy.

I called my dad after my arrival so he could finally go to sleep, he needed it, he had to work in a couple of hours. About fifteen minutes passed when Lili appeared from her little trip to the pharmacy with the stuff on a shopping bag. She wasn’t smiling, but her facial expression was different, something was odd with her. When she sat across from me, I noticed something, she had this brilliancy in her amber eyes that I don’t really remember seeing before. That’s new, I thought.

''Did something happen? You took longer than I expected''   I told her when she started preparing the bandages and the alcohol to clean me up, which by the way, it was not sealed, and the little bandages’ box was also open with some of its content missing.

''Well, nothing too extraordinary, but I did meet these two boys, they were nice''   she answered me

''Two boys huh? is one of those boys responsible of your sparkling eyes?''  I asked rising my eyebrows

''What! Pff no, besides, what are you saying, they are not sparkling!''

''Oh please Lili you are blinding me here.''

''And you are as exaggerated as always! Come here, let’s take care of that nose of yours.''

I leaned forward so she could work on that, it was a little painful but I was used to it by now. What really did hurt me was one of the wounds in my stomach. When Lili checked it, she panicked a little, as I suspected, it got open when I got punched there, back on the fight. The white bandage I had on covering it was red from the blood. Lili removed it carefully to clean it with the alcohol to later apply some analgesic cream or gel …… something like that to ease the pain. I cursed the entire time, it hurt a lot.

''And…. Done! You are good to go.''   she said after putting the new bandage.

''That was fucking hell!''   I said while putting my T-shirt back on.

''It’s your fault, I told you not to go to The inferno  but you went anyways. I was so worried, you didn’t even show to the burial. Although, I wasn’t surprised, I kind of figured you were still there smashing someone in the face.''

When she said that, I felt anger and sadness at the same time. I know Lili was right, I should have been there, but I just couldn’t. The image of seeing Rose’s lifeless body inside a coffin, getting buried six feet underground was too much for me. She was gone…………… and I couldn’t accept that fact.

''Lili…. I know I should have been there but I just…. I’m not ready Lili, I can’t bear to say goodbye, I just…….''

My voice broke right there, tears were falling again like cascades in a mountain. I was tired of crying but I couldn’t help it, every time she was mentioned, every time I thought about her…. I couldn’t do anything but cry.

Lili hugged me in that moment of sorrow, I heard her sobbing like me. I knew this whole situation was painful for her as well, Rose was also her friend. We three were inseparable, like the three musketeers, always together. But now, she’s dead, the flames took her away. Lili is as devastated as I am, but I also feel so angry at myself…... Rose, she was right in front of me that fatal night, I tried to save her but it was not enough, that was torturing me inside. My chest hurts so much, no pill or massage or anything has taken that pain away.

''Jiji, listen''   Lili said with a shaking voice breaking from our hug, I looked at her    ''listen, I know this is hard and I’m not going to force you into doing anything, everything happened so fast and it’s pretty recent but… when you are ready because I know you will be, go visit her, she would want you to be there.''

I just nodded at that, I couldn’t say anything….

''Now, try to sleep please, you need to rest. I know you like this, but you can come to the bed if you want to ok? ''   she told me while handing me the blue blanket I always use whenever I stay at her house. She then kissed me in the cheek like she always does to later go to sleep. We used to sleep side by side on her bed but since she bought this plush sofa, I’ve been sleeping here. I love its texture, I always sleep like a baby here. Although, based on the past events, I would probably never sleep like that anymore.

One of the injuries I have from the accident that night was on my back, but at this point I didn’t care about the physical pain anymore, that one will eventually fade away. The other one however, I’m not too sure about. I layed down there in the plush sofa looking to the ceiling, I spent like two hours doing just that until I finally closed my eyes and try to fall asleep.
