The Mystery In Her Heart

What Am I?

What Am I?

Dec 29, 2017

Even though Brooklyn and Jesse helped each other out, something was still wrong with her. At least, that's how she felt. Brooklyn had believed that there was a good and bad version of everyone, and her good and bad version of herself were at war. Like I said before, that's how she feels about this. She was able solve herself a little bit more just by being around Jesse, but she became someone different.

She became more confident, more open, more caring. But she realized that she was alone even when she had Jesse and the SKWAD (the Super Kool Weird Awesome Dudes). She knew that she felt alone because being in a relationship was new to her. She noticed that she was different than she was before, and she both liked it and didn't like it.

All she could think of doing was imaging a better life. She did have a good life, but she didn't want to feel as lonely as she was and she wanted to be more free.

To bad nothing like that exists, she thought. She laid down in her bed and closed her eyes. The sound of plastic building blocks falling onto the ground was later heard by Brooklyn.

I can't even take a nap, she thought. She turned to her side, thinking of Jesse. He understood her. He cared for her. She imagined Jesse next to her, and brushed through his hair with her hand. His hair was always soft. She then faced the ceiling, her back on the bed.

Jesse had always considered her a mystery to him. He had somewhat solved her when they both had a crush on each other, but he still thought of her as a mystery. She had so many walls that he wanted to break down, but it was hard for Brooklyn to knock those walls down. She tried, but it would get awkward and uncomfortable for her. She thought that opening up to much to someone, could be her greatest weakness.

She didn't even let herself knock down her own walls. She couldn't solve herself. She wouldn't be able to know who she fully was. So Brooklyn would just ask herself, What am I?

Solving puzzles was Brooklyn’s thing. No one in her family loved to solve puzzles, riddles, or mysteries as much as she did. There were things that puzzled them, and there were things that puzzled Brooklyn. One thing that puzzled Brooklyn was herself.
No one was like her. She was alone and she didn’t fully realize it. She was happy this way, until she got to know Jesse. Jesse was like her, and adorable in his own way. She started to solve herself and him. But she was still a mystery. There was a mystery in her heart that she needed to solve.
