Zach grabbed a butter croissant from the table and stuffed it into his mouth. He hurriedly chewed all of it as he made a quick run outside their house. Huffing for air, he slowed down until he caught up with a certain brunette.
“Yo, sis.”
“Oh you caught up with me, sleepy head.”
“Yah, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to waking up early like you.” Zach admitted with a smile. “But I might get used to it!”
“Well, what’s with the sudden change?” Rosie asked.
“I dunno. Maybe… I’m trying to follow my cute sister’s footsteps?”
“Again with those revolting things…” Rosie said; feeling agitated. “Oh, there’s Nise.” She spoke, pertaining to the wavy, black-haired guy who stood near a post.
“Bummer, I don’t feel like sharing you with the Great Nise Naismith right now.” Zach said with sarcasm.
“Stop whining, we’re just starting to get along well ever since that Rainbow Land thing for Irsa. Honestly, I still don’t know how it’d work out for us. But I’m open for possibilities.” Rosie said as she went ahead of her red-haired step-brother. “See you later then.”
This sucks. Zach thought. I’m one of the most popular guys in school and I don’t even have a girlfriend to walk to school with. He sighed deeply and a crease between his eyebrows formed as he recalled how his best friend who was with little to no social life before, now has a hot girlfriend and is utterly as popular as Zach now. No, it’s unlike me to be too caught up with something trivial like this—
“E-Ehh? Zach…?” he turned around and saw a cute familiar face. “H-Hi, good morning.” Her amber hair was up in pigtails as usual, and her hazel eyes sparkled with the sun’s rays.
“Good morning.” His eyes widened in shock, this must be a heaven-sent sign. “Wow I never see you on the way to school. You live near Dory Street?”
“Y-Yeah. I usually come to school early to help out with Nise in the library.”
Oh great, it’s the Great Nise Naismith again. Seriously.
“D-Do you mind if we walk together?”
“Why would I mind?” He flashed a smile.
They were already at the school gates when Zach stopped walking.
“Say, Asari dear.” He stared at the petite girl with amber-colored hair. Something random popped into his head.
“Y-Yes?”
“Do you wanna come catch a movie with me on Saturday?” Zach tried to hide a blush as he looked away.
