….Many scholars suggest that Al-Alemani's persistence in seeking the dissolution of the Sprite Parks was political as much as it was a reaction against the Parks themselves. Although I have no doubt about Al-Alemani's personal antipathy for Namar al-Misri, whose family still held controlling interest in the Parkworlds, and his religious opposition to the Cult of Amon-Ra (which Namar was, even in those early days, believed to support), the source of Al-Alemani's campaign against the Parks may be traced to a single, catastrophic event.
The Jacobin's Rebellion was the spark that lit the fires of Al-Alemani's Crusade. Begun on the "Glory of the Ottomans" Park World in the month of Dhul-Hijjah, 2002 /November 2564 CE (Safar, 1202 AH/November, 1787 CE Park time), the Jacobin's war quickly swelled from a local disturbance in the Park's Paris simulation to a Park-wide uprising. At the heart of the rebellion was the Sprite of Thomas Jefferson (Third President of the United States of America), who, after his programming "slipped", quickly radicalized his contemporaries and demanded the granting of citizenship rights to Sprites and the outlawing of their continued use in the entertainment industry. The rebellion was quickly suppressed, however, and Namar satisfied calls in the Shura Council for action on the Sprite Question by formally closing the "Glory of the Ottomans" park.
Although his willingness to close the park was seen at the time as a significant concession to the Caliphate (which, it should be remembered, had only recently extended its borders to include the Park Worlds), many analysts point out that the park, which for the last few centuries had allowed visitors to relive the wonders of the Ottoman Empire, had entered into the period of Ottoman decline. The result had been a drastic fall in profits over the decades preceding the park's closing….

Sprite, an engineered being used in historical simulations from the Warring Systems Period to the early years of the Restored New Caliphate (approx. 1743-2039 AH/2312-2599 CE), primarily those used in the Park Worlds of Misr Interstellar Educational Simulations. While early models were based on biobot technology developed during the Halverman Conflict, Sprites found in the Park Worlds exhibited almost none of the erratic behaviors found in the biobots.

"You've got some nerve sticking your neck into Sprite business," the Jacobin growled. His hand dropped to the shockprod at his side. "You humans will pay for what you've done to us."
Hassan knew the Sprite meant business.
Loosening his own prod in its holster, he hissed his reply. "Come on, Sprite. Lets see what kind of guts you've got in that gutbox, of yours." Laughter rose in his throat like hot bile after a curry dinner, and he drew his weapon and sent 600 volts of justice into the white-wigged Terror of the Enlightenment.
"Guess payment's been deferred, Jacobin."
