I jolt awake with Ms. Ann standing above me. "You fell asleep Mika, I've been trying to wake you up for the past 3 minutes!"

"Apologies Ms. Ann." She sighs.

"Anyway, we have a meeting to attend to. Come on."

As I hear her footsteps fade, I stand and follow her without directions. She turns a left after some more steps to her office. She pulls out a chair for me to sit in. I sit and face forward. Ms. Ann sits down as well next to the other person in the room.

"Now Mika, her beside me is a potential guardian for you..." My eyebrows rise as I listen to her.

"I want you to talk to him for a few minutes while I make sure everything is a go. Ok?"

I nod and remain silent. "Wonderful! I'll be back in a few."

I hear her get up and leave the room. The man across from me clears his throat, “Now listen here you little rat,”

My eyebrows raise even more than they already were, as he continues talking. “You’re coming with me and you’re coming quietly. Just because you piece of shit has shitty powers, doesn’t mean you’ll be able to get away. As long as you listen to what I say, no one will be harmed. As soon as that lady gets back, you act like nothing happened. Got it, punk?”

My thoughts were interrupted by a heavy force being applied to my neck. My hands fly up to my neck to find a hand there squeezing tighter by the second. My breathing starts to get disrupted, and I can’t focus on my surroundings.

The pressure releases seconds later only to be replaced on my shoulder. I vaguely remember Ms. Ann asking what’s going on, and I think I heard something about a panic attack before I fade into darkness...
