“Um Doctor, why do you look so happy?” Avery asked.
“Oh nothing, just the fact that she locked herself outside with my new assistant.” A robotic hand clamped down on Jackie’s shoulder.
“Miss, we need to take some blood test, if you will please go back into the lab and corporate, things will be go faster.” She glared up at the big robot next to her, he looked like a giant marshmallow.
“Please bring her in M3l10w.”
“Yes ma’am.” He gently nudged Jackie and opened the door for her. “This way please.” He walked her to a chair and made her sit down.
“I don’t like you.” She glared at him.
“You don’t have to like me, my job is to assist Dr. Sally.” He took her arm and cleaned it. Jackie shivered as M3l10w got the needles for Sally.
“It’ll only hurt a little.” Sally said as she readied her testing area. “Stop being a baby.”
“You said it wouldn’t hurt last time and guess what-” Sally jabbed the needle in Jackie’s arm. “Son of a-”
“Language.” Avery said as he took her hand, Jackie squeezed it and winced as the needle was taken out. “Better?”
“Take you hand off mine or you lose it.” Avery removed his hand and looked away. “Next time you have to run test on my blood, tell me a few days in advance so I can move to Canada.”
“We all know you would never make it to Canada on your own.” Dr. Christian said as he held up a vial of Jackie’s blood.
“Don’t!” Jackie screamed as he turned to show it to her. She clamped her eyes closed and pushed Avery in front of her.
“Hey, I don’t want to see it either!” Avery complained, he looked back at her but she was at the door pulling the handle. “Hey, you need a bandage.” He grabbed her arm.
“Let go!” She slapped his hand and the door’s locks disengaged. Tears streamed down her face as she ran past a cleanup droid.
“Damn, that girl can run.” Sally said as she took the vial from Dr. Christian and smacked him in the head.
“Ow!”
“Avery, you should go find her and make sure she’s not having a panic attack.” Sally said motioning to the door.
“Yes ma’am.” Avery left the room in pursuit of Jackie.
“That poor girl.” Dr. Christian said, still rubbing his head. “Was the test really necessary? You know she won’t take the news well.”
“Jackie is a headstrong girl, she’ll be fine. For now, just run the test Christain, M3l10w will help.”
