“So... did you buy anything?” I asked on the way back, “I found a sewing machine for only 5 dollars!” Kaidie looked pleased with herself. “Did you buy anything?” “No, not really.” I answered, “I kind of just wandered around the stores.” Kaidie seemed to question me. “What are you going to sew?” I asked, changing the subject, “I don’t know, I think it’s better to just have it, just in case I ever do need it.” “What do you think we’ll do after this?” I asked her, “I don’t know... maybe we’ll meet more people?” Kaidie seemed to notice how close we were to the elevator, Cassidy was waiting for us, but she was talking to a girl I didn’t know, the girl had long seafoam green hair, she was wearing a black hoodie and jeans, “Oh, hey.” The girl said, noticing us, “Two of your roommates are here.” Cassidy looked in our direction, and gestured for us to come over. We walked a bit closer to stand with Cassidy. “This is my girlfriend, Naomi Waterfall!” Cassidy said happily as we approached, “I’m one of the reasons the principal hates her.” Naomi said, smiling, “The principal being my mom and all...” “She didn’t like me much anyway, and she’s kind of overprotective of Naomi, so when she found out about Naomi and me...” Cassidy grinned, “You could imagine how mad she was~” “So how long have you been together?” I asked Cassidy and Naomi, “A bit more than a year.” They both answered at the same time. I heard footsteps behind us, and looked around. Sara and Owen were walking together towards us. “Hey.” I said, waving. They both waved back at me, Naomi introduced herself to both of them, and we went back to the elevator with Cassidy seeing Naomi off. Cassidy pressed a button and we went to the floor with our room. But instead of walking back to our room, we followed Cassidy to another room. She knocked on the door, and it opened only a few seconds after. Standing in front of us was a... robot? It looked like just a robot skeleton, though. It was made of pieces of silver metal all connected by black pieces of metal. The robot’s face had giant eyes and the pupils looked like golden gears. The jaw looked disconnected from it’s face though, and the robot had hard, pale blue hair. “Hello.” The robot said, it’s voice was cold. “Hey! Itoi! Let me answer the door!” There was a voice coming from inside the room. There was suddenly a boy coming to the door, he looked out of breath. “Hi.” He said, stopping next to the robot. “Hey, Amiru.” Cassidy said looking down at him, I realized how short he was, only a bit taller than Kaidie. “Oh. It’s only you.” Amiru looked up at Cassidy, “Hey~ I have these people with me~” She smiled, gesturing towards us. “Fine.” Amiru seemed to give up. “Hi, I’m Amiru Kamai. This is 1T0I.. I created her three years ago... when I was just starting to create. That’s why she looks like... this.” Amiru looked a bit disappointed with himself. “She’s better than anything that I could do.” I looked down at my side, Kaidie had complimented Amiru’s work, and he was smiling. “But... how did you give her life?” “That’s... my abnormality... moving life between bodies...” Amiru looked a bit embarrassed, “Don’t get the wrong idea! I didn’t kill anything! I just moved some of my own soul, robots don’t need that much life. She.. doesn’t have enough to feel strongly about much.” “That’s amazing.” It’s... pretty easy to impress Kaidie. “Um.. Thank you.” Amiru looked awkward... no one talked for a few seconds, until there was a loud crash from inside Amiru’s dorm, “Come in.” He said, walking in the general direction of the sound. “MARII! WHERE ARE YOU?!” “Ah~ I’m sorry~!” A tiny little girl came running towards Amiru, he picked her up and placed her on his palm. “What did you do?” Amiru questioned, holding Marii up to his face. “I... knocked over a stack of books. “And who’s cleaning it up?” “K0K0...” “No. You are. Let’s go.” Amiru walked to another room. Cassidy followed him, we took our shoes off and followed too. We arrived in the room with Amiru, and there was another robot who was also relatively small, she came to about my knees. The robot was wearing a maid outfit, she had long brown hair and some of the strands framing her face were tied at the back of her head with a pink bow. She was trying to place books on a desk, but her height was making it hard for her. She noticed us, and smiled over. Marii turned around on Amiru’s hand to see what the maid robot was looking at, “Hi~!” She jumped off the hand, landing on the carpeted floor. She was so small that she was only a tiny bit taller than the carpet’s fluff. She ran over too me, and jumped up and down with her arms straight up, like a baby asking to be picked up. I knelt down, holding out my palm. Marii jumped on, and I stood up. Looking closer, she was wearing a stereotypical Japanese school uniform. Like, the kind you see in Anime. Marii’s hair was in blonde pigtails, she had wispy bangs in her face, and framing strands. “What’s you’re name~?” Marii asked me, she was sitting on my hand, looking up at me, “My name is MAR11. Or just Marii.” “My name is Jex.” “Do you not have a surname?” “Oh. I’m Jex Aiani, then.” Marii’s face seemed to freeze for a second. “Jex Aiani. New student. Mind reader.” She said after her face unfroze, more robotically than a second ago. “Right?” “Um.. yes...” I questioned her, “How.. did you know that?” “Well, I’m a robot. When I meet someone, I automatically search them. If they go to school, I see their record.” Marii gave me a blank stare as if this was common knowledge. “What’s your name?” She looked over the side of my hand at Kaidie, “Um, Kaidie Hiran...” “Kaidie Hiran. New student. Can understand and speak to animals.” Marii asked Owen and Sara’s names too, following their answers with “Owen Chaegada. New student. Shapeshifter.” And, “Sara Kayo. New student. Can become invisible and speak to spirits.”
