When I came to I was bound and gagged in the back of a van. Outside I could hear the rain still thumping against the road and the ground we drove on was rough.
My mind lit up with the possiblities as I began to think. We could still be on a gravel road in the forest, I might have not been gone that long. They could see the van and come get me and I'll have only been gone for an hour or so.
Then I also realized the other things. Mike took Nova and his mother into the human town after the race, The Alpha would still be with Arturo and Roberto for a while longer as they decided it was best to leave at midnight for their safety and Kian would be with them because Mike was in town.
My only hope was Luke and Hannah.
Scratch that, my only hope is Luke. Hannah made it very clear that she wants me gone. Last I saw Luke he was going out with his friends to do something stupid.
I felt my wolf start to cry but I wasn't ready to give up. Arturo would notice. He knew that I was just going for a walk, it couldn't take that long for me to just go for a walk.
But, you rejected him.
Would it kill you to be optimistic?
No, but it might kill you! Those were vamps that took us. The closest vampire house is about 7-8 hours away, only 20 minutes with vamp's speed. At best you can escape and they come get you again. You need someone to rescue you.
I sighed through my gag at how right she sounded. The van didn't stop for hours and when it did it was only to fill up with gas.
One of the men from earlier came around to the back of the van to get a reusable gasoline canister. I pretended to still be unconscious when the door swung open. While he reached over me to grab it I peeped one eye open to see that the sun was just beginning to rise. I've been gone for hours. They must have noticed by now, right?
He grabbed the tank and I took a chance. When he pulled back I brought my knee up hard into his groin, believe it or not I was aiming for his stomach but this works too.
He stumbled back, dropping the can on the ground and holding himself as his face contorted in pain. I wiggled out the van and started running, it was difficult because my hands were tied but I made it to the woods.
The ground was slick under my bare feet and I realized that they had taken my shoes. Why? I didn't ponder the thought because I heard them starting to run after me, instead I ducked behind a tree and prayed I had enough time to turn.
My wolf took over and she started to run with all her might, my beautiful hazel fur soon covered in the mud. Silently I thanked the rain, it would cover tracks and the mud would cloak my scent. I might make it! I could get away!
I ran for about half an hour before I slowed down my pace, my wolf wasn't too happy about it but I was about ready to pass out from exhaustion.
I don't think we've gone far enough.
I don't either, but I can't go any further.
She sighed and curled up to sleep. She's tired, too. I found a place that wasn't as wet as everywhere else and lied down. She perked up a few minutes later and told me to find something sharp.
Why?
Kian marked you, he can sense your pain. It's the one emotion he can't ignore or block out.
I stood up in my wolf form, not ready to change incase they found me again. Looking around me I saw nothing sharp so I went further. There was a rock with a sharp edge but that would take a lot of force to cut myself in this form.
Looking around I took the chance and changed back to a human. I wiped my hand off on a tree to get off the mud and keep my cut semi-clean. My palm slid over the rough, sharp edge of the rock until I felt the skin split open. Blood poured out and I hissed in pain, the cut was just starting to heal when I heard them coming.
Run!
I started to run forward but I wasn't fast enough. They came out of the foliage and caught me around the waist. I flailed and fought against him but it was to no avail. He grabbed my wrists and I thanked my werewolf healing for my palm closing up before he saw the blood.
That must be what caught their attention, I should have hurled myself at a tree. Maybe I could have broken a rib or something.
No, the cut was the right thing. Sharp and painful, Kian must have felt it.
Let's hope, I replied to her as they dragged me back to the van.
_____
I woke up in the back of the same van later, after they'd gotten me back to the van sight they threw me to the ground and kicked me roughly in the side. They didn't bother to give me something to cover myself even though I was naked and wet and muddy, they just tied up my ankles to prevent that from happening again. Hell, they even went the extra mile and chained the bounds on my wrist to a crate.
"We should have brought a cage," I heard one of them say from the front seat.
The other murmured some kind of agreement. Even my wolf agreed that it would have been a smarter idea.
I stayed in the back of the van, listening to their conversation for the duration of the ride. After my little escape they had taken the gas cans up front with them so they never even opened the door until we got to our destination. From what I got they're named Hamilton and Timothy.
I couldn't see where we stopped because they tossed a can of knock-out gas in the back and climbed out.
They opened the door just as I was falling asleep. Right before I passed out I saw a large, stone building with stain glass windows and a man stepping out of it.
