I wanted to curl up in a ball and cry but that wasn't an option. We need to get out of here. I glanced down both halls before turning to Faye.
"Does the other way have any possible ways out?"
She tilted her head to the side and then the other, contemplating if it did.
Or is she contemplating if it's worth it?
I grabbed Kayla's arm and made a dash down the hallway I had suggested. Faye and Ulijana followed closely behind. This was the longest hall, with the least turns that we had gone down. Faye took off in front of us and led the way to a large double door with stained glass windows surrounding it.
Kayla and Ulijana went up to her and pried the door open but I found myself looking around in awe. This is the grand entryway.
That's the front door.
Ulijana, Faye and Kayla all ran out and started towards the woods surrounding the estate. I decided I couldn't leave just yet.
There was an umbrella holder by the door and I was ready to do something I never thought I'd do before. I vandalized their gorgeous windows and made my own doorway out.
A man ran down the large stairway that framed the place just in time for me to wave goodbye to him and make a dash to the woods with all the speed I possessed.
_____
It was liberating, to finally be the place I had dreamed about so many times. I thought the only thing that could bring the freedom and peace of the woods back to me was death.
Silently I thanked the goddess.
Kayla and Ulijana and I were all practically limping as we ran through the woods as fast as we could. There was no snow but a feeling I'm starting to grow to hate cam over me. It's going to rain.
"Guys," I shouted, the others turned to me and stopped running," we should take a hard left here and head towards the mountains. The rain will cover our tracks but we can't risk sickness."
They all nodded and started off in the direction I had indicated.
Mountains are hard places, especially for people who are injured, tired and out of touch with their wolves accompanied by a newly found wolf whom they had chosen as their marking point in case one of them got lost. Faye's reddish color against the white snow of the mountain caps was amazing.
What wasn't amazing was the mountain caps and the newly found rain.
We walked for a good hour and a half before finding a cave that we thought was good enough to stay the night in. The rain covered our tracks like we'd predicted but it also soaked us to the bone in a freezing environment.
Ulijana was shaking a lot and Kayla was doing her best to keep her teeth from chattering. I stood off to one side, wishing it was safe enough to light a fire. I'd taken it upon myself to tell everyone to take off their clothes to help them dry.
Ulijana looked like death.
Faye walked over to her, now in her human form. She had changed into a human again the moment we got into the dry cave.
"Let me help you," she whispered to her, taking both her hands into her own and bending her head over them. She murmured a few phrases and a small burst of heat came through the air.
Ulijana stopped shaking.
"What did you do," she asked in a now steady voice.
"It was a simple spell. It's not much but it'll fight off the cold for a while."
"Can you do it for the others?"
"I can, but not right now. My strength is already low from my first change. That spell was all I can manage," Faye looked at all of us with sad eyes," I'm sorry."
"It's alright. I think the best thing we can all do right now is rest and think. Ulijana can rest and we'll think. Faye, could you transform for her? I think she could use the warmth your wolf will provide still."
Faye nodded and walked to a wall far away from us all. Ulijana laid on her like she was a pillow and fell asleep fast. Kayla and I faced each other. She cocked her head in the direction of the mouth of the cave and we both went over there to watch out at the night.
"How long were you there," I asked after a while.
"Not long, maybe a week. Week and a half. You?"
"Almost 3 weeks."
"Oh, god," she looked at me," I'm so sorry. How's your wolf?"
"Gaining strength. I imagine yours is almost fine though."
"I can hear her talking but she's not strong enough to change just yet. She will be by morning though."
"That's good. The more wolves we have the better. It will be easier to fight them if they find us."
She nodded and we stared at the rain for a while longer before she went off to join Ulijana in sleeping on Faye. I just stared at the wall of cold, wet liquid before me that stood between me and my freedom.
_____
Morning came slowly, I couldn't find it in my to go to sleep until one of the others woke up. Ulijana woke first and volunteered to go hunt for breakfast. I agreed but only if she took Faye.
She'd been there for almost 4 weeks. It would take a long time for her to get her wolf back if she ever does.
I brushed my hand over my scars on my arms, wincing when I came over a sore spot.
Wait...
That's not right. It should be fully healed by now, it's been a full 24 hours with out being reopened. It should be fine.
I pushed harder on the sore spot and almost fell over with pain.
Kayla stood up and walked over to me, taking my arm in her hands and turning it over.
"I think there's something in it," she told me, she elongated a single claw and looked at me for the okay before tearing open my skin just over the spot.
Her fingers dug around and I actually missed Wyatt's certain look on his face when he did this, she looked like she was just winging it and it scared me. She must have touched something because her face light up with confusion and she winced as she pulled out a long, thin piece of silver.
The rumors of silver burning werewolves isn't true but it does however cut us off from our telepathic abilities, like the ability to communicate with other wolves like our pack and mate from afar and with out words.
I looked at Kayla and she looked at the silver. With out it in me we can communicate with my pack. We can get help!
Alpha Jack?!
Who is this?
Alpha Jack, listen to me. This is Holly Sterling. I've been taken by a clan of vampires and witches. I need you to send help, the Oracles of Wolves Kayla and Ulijana are with me. Send my brother and Kian quickly.
I can't do that, Holly.
What? Why?
Because Kian left the other night to look for his mate. He's already on his way to you, Holly.
