Willow

Chapter Two

Chapter Two

Jan 24, 2018

I stood before a marvelous hall. The walls stretched into the air, quartz pillars supported hundreds of feet of the pure ivory surface. The supports stood as towers, they held a ceiling which in itself was decorated with the magnificent art of our history. Large crystalline windows broke the sunlight, sending the godly rays straight into the reflecting, marble floor. Each window had a set of incredible crimson curtains that hung from golden bars.

My bare feet felt the warmth of the blood-colored carpet. Soaked in golden rich fabric, my feet felt as though they were going numb from the perfection. The long carpet extended down the incredibly long room, traversing the stairs, and settling at the feet of the throne. The rug covered the glorious black and white tiles that dotted the floor. I stared into the chess themed ground and followed the reflection of the pillars back to the ceiling. This room alone put the higher class to shame.

We approached the throne. A hand grabbed my shoulder and threw me to my knees. The intimidating guard, which appeared to be their leader, continued onward. He bowed his head then stepped up the stairs to the queen.

I didn't dare look up to the queen. Truth be told, I was terrified to even breathe. All of this was overwhelming and to be in the presence of Queen Ira was enough to silence my tongue. I heard few whispers exchanged between the queen and the Sentinel. A silence struck as what I heard next terrified me: the queen's footsteps slowly lowered from her throne.

A gentle hand rested upon my shoulder, she moved in front of my vision. All on her own, Queen Ira was a testament to Arinfel's beauty: she wore an alluring scarlet gown that drooped to the floor. The edges of the dress adorned beautiful sable designs that stretched deep into the fabric of her silken garment. Her long, carmine-painted nails slid up my cheek, tilting my head ever so slightly. I now stared into the eyes of our benevolent ruler. Her irises were a perfect blend of rose and orange. An odd fury brewed below their surface, strange yet calming was her gaze.

"My commander tells me that you can do some extraordinary things..."
