Homers' Thoughts:
When I was six months old, my mom started showing different pictures of the world to me. Since I was a "non-color", she wanted me to be wise and knowledgeable instead. So she started educating me early on despite the fact that I would usually try to escape and/or lose my books. Don't get me wrong, I love reading books just not those books.
Most of the time, she would forget that I was only half a year old and should not have understood any of her abstract teachings. But for some reason I understood them perfectly.
The laws of the land were that Kings are chosen by their strength and wisdom. Wisdom can come in many forms. It can be a burden on the shoulders of an individual or it can be the artistic finale of a group singing harmoniously.
Men, noble or not, are ranked based on their aura. The darker their aura the higher their position. The status of females are a bit difficult to explain. Their value in society is determined by the level of their respect/love. The more a woman is loved and respected, the darker their aura becomes. My moms’ is a dark blue. I must love her a lot.
The one thing I hated the most is that no matter how hard one tries one can never move in between colors. You can go from light yellow to dark yellow but you can't go to another color.
“HOOOMEEEER!!!" I heard Mia from miles away.
Mia is my childhood friend. Her whole family is red aurad. But for some reason, she can't do magic either. Her mom used to be a close servant of mom which is why she is allowed to accompany me to my classes. Her mom died a year after Mias' birth.
I have been told I pay more attention in class when she is around. It is not that I want to impress her. Come on. I am just a kid. But I’ve always felt that her existence makes me stronger and smarter. Stuff just click way easier when she is there.
“How did you make that castle? I want one!!”, Mia said with excitement.
“I didn’t. Miss. towiester did.”
“I wish she’d made me one.”
“You can have mine. I am not really playing with it.”
“Nah. Let’s do the challenge.”
That is one of our hobbies. Escaping the waves. Getting closer and closer, daring the ocean to take us in and as soon as a wave is about to hit us, we run away. The challenge is that we have to distract one another so that the other would get wet.
This time something was OFF. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but it seemed like the water was not on my side. No matter how hard I tried, I kept failing. The ocean just didn’t want Mia to get wet. Crazy, Right?
“Lets' go and sit by the castle. I don't wanna play anymore” I said frustratingly. and then I heard a shout.
“Wow, Miss. Towiester, you are awesome. Thanks for the castle. It’s even bigger than Homers’” Mia was screaming in excitement - jumping up and down. It reminded me of the time when mom gave me my first biology book and I handed it off to Mia. She was beside herself with happiness.
“Mia stop joking around. The sun is going down. Pack your stuff and I'll take you home. We are leaving shortly.” Said Miss. Towiester.
Mia didn't notice anything strange but I saw it. The castle could not have been made by Miss. Towiester. It was not built with sand nor had any magical aura around it. Who made it then?
I decided to put my thoughts aside for now and instead helped Mia pack her stuff. Miss. Towiester will pack mine in a jiffy. She just has to utter the word “complekts” and it will all be done.
