Kil'm was waiting. At this point he had no idea what was going on ,,if he wanted to capture me or something more, he would have done that, then what is this old fox trying to accomplish"
Master J'iri sighed. ,,Listen Kil'm, the reason I called you tonight, is very simple, I have decided it is time to see whether you are ready for your freedom or not". Kil'm shifted, his dark eyes sparkled like hammer striking the glowing iron. J'iri waited for response, but there was none.
,,Kil'm, I know your good deeds, everything that you said is true, you have accomplished so much, that you deserve one true freedom. However, we know what else you have been doing, you did well hiding it, but you are not on equal status with us". Kil'm lowered his eye for a second. When he looked up, he was composed.
,,Master I understand what you are saying, it would appear that my arrogance has clouded my judgment, but I do not understand, if my deeds cancel each other out, what does that mean for me" J'iri took a deep breath but did not let a sigh out. He looked up and kil'm followed his eyes. There was a painting on the wall. It was a small painting, Kil'm realized that colors were changing and once it settled down, there was nothing, but rad rose petals with the shape of two arrows crossing. Another realization came crushing down to Kil'm, he smiled. This time, it was the smile of helplessness.
,,It can't be, master you... you can not be, this university can not be"
,,it is not, I am" masters voice was different, this was not the voice of the master Kil'm knew, this was the voice of a leader, a lord.
,,Listen Kil'm, what I am is not important right now, what is important however is whether you walk out from this room or not, I am going to ask you some questions and you must answer them and I am sure that you do not require to know what would happen if you lie to me.
Kil'm was nervous, he was scared. In the past he faced monsters, he faced death itself and won the gamble against it. For three long years he was forced to heal his wounds, while holding up barrier and resisting the curse just to stay alive. However, right in front of him was a man who had a connection with the ,,Petal blood". Everyone knew about them, but nobody wanted to talk. You could offer a drink to a local and he would speak about death, demons and end of the world, but mention petal blood and he would make himself scarce. Descendants from the first priestess of late goddess, who betrayed one she was worshiping. Her blood marked the worst parts of the history. Some even said that petal blood was responsible for three ENDs. Their main goal was simple, to end the world as we knew. ,,what late goddess did was the right thing, a new world can only be built on the ashes of the last one, but this world is shaped in the wrong way". Kil'm was drenched in sweat. Unable to speak, unable to think clearly.
,,You are strong Kil'm, strong enough to cause me some problems" the voice came from behind the chair". Kil'm blinked and the master was gone. he was behind of him looking from the window, he did not see how master got there. Another wave of fear took over Kil'm.
,,Come here Kil'm, come and tell me what do you see from this window. Kil'm almost jumped from the chair and rushed towards the window, his steps were heavy, but fast.
They were on top of one of the tallest buildings in the university, the view was breathtaking, Kil'm could see the whole town, with its light and darkness.
,,I see the city, master, I see the city that depends on this university". J'iri laughed, this was a short laugh, ominous and dark.
,,yes indeed Kil'm that is correct, but did you know that there is more to this city than you know. tell me how many dukes, lords, archdukes and barons live here. none, but do you know how many of their relatives are here? hundreds. They are here for many reasons, most of them either studies or works in university. They do not wish to go back". J'iri was smiling, this was the kind of smile that you give a person the seconds before you swing the executioners axe. ,,come let us sit" they set down on different pair of chairs, facing each other. The room grew darker.
,,Kil'm why did you kill lord Vehes"
,,He was in my way, got too curious about what I was doing on his lands and once he found out, old man decided to blackmail me, I killed him without much of a thought. One of his maids had a sick husband, so I cured him for a favor, apparently her love was strong enough to slip through the lords world" Kil'm stopped talking and looked at his master. There was no reaction.
,,Why did you kill his wife as well" Kil'm was not expecting this.
,,Because she refused to bear my child". His voice was shaking now, since his status and the world were shattered, his emotions found a way. He was scared, he was sad, he was devastated
,,That is not true, Kil'm I give you one last chance, speak the truth"
,,It's because one she got pregnant her child broke my spell. Apparently she was descendant of one of the second generation of high priestesses, her child gave her a blessing, but she murdered her unborn daughter and with fury and rage faced me. She almost defeated me, I had no other choice but to kill her". Silence. For almost five minutes.
,,apparently we have to postpone our conversation, go back to your room and wait for me. I will pay you a visit".
Kil'm was startled by this. ,,postpone it? why?" his thought was shuttered by the loud noise from the outside. The night sky partially faded away and gave way for the sun. A huge gate appeared.
,,White gate of the sun, here, isn't this breaking the agreement".
,,Yes kil'm it is, you are in no condition to fight. go back and wait for my orders. looks like it's going to be a long night"
With this master J'iri disappeared without a trace. There was no flash, no sound, he just vanished. Kil'm did not even have any power left to get shocked yet again, he had no other choice to go to his room on the other side of he university. He could barely walk and think. He was defeated and his future was uncertain.
