The tenderness of his kiss matched the gentleness of his voice. His lips felt like smooth melted chocolate. They softly explored to each corner of my mouth. Their supple heat sent tingles down to my belly. I instinctively teased back against them, matching the way his lips ebbed and flowed like the endless waves of the ocean lapping at the shore.
My wonder filled mind barely became aware of his hand gliding along my lower back. The pressure of it pulled me flush against him. His lips firmly latched onto mine in an instant. I could feel the desperate passion in them. He was practically sucking my soul through the seal of my lips; and I let him have it. I flowed into his body, the heat of him radiated into my bones. I surrendered my lower lip to his slow suckling. On their own, my hands traveled up his neck. The silkiness of his skin sent mind blinding sparks through my fingertips. His jaw was trembling under my palms as I held his face.
Lips were slowly retreating. I kept begging him to stay with mine. At last they were too far away to tempt. Happiness was flooding my whole body. My lungs finally started to work. I opened my eyes. His were still closed. The white eyelashes were neatly aligned in a row along his eyelids. Their soft shimmering was beautiful.
His eyes flashed open and I swore I tumbled into them.
"You have made me a very happy elf." His voice was exceptionally vibrant.
"You make me happy too." I giggled.
"I have been wanting to claim you for sometime."
"It took you long enough."
"I simply wished to make sure you would not deny me. To be rejected would have left me distraught." He almost whimpered.
"Wanted me that bad, huh?"
"Yes, I had to have you."
"Infatuated much?"
"Desperately. Are you not infatuated with me?" His voice had worry in it.
"I'm infatuated with every male elf on this island. I don't understand how you all can be so handsome." I quietly teased.
His ears pricked up as the wrinkle of concern ran along his forehead.
I laughed.
"I'm joking! Don't worry, I promise you're the only one I'm obsessed with,” I said, lightly tapping his nose, "Plus, that kiss you just gave me will definitely make sure I can't get you out of my head."
I felt the breadth of his hand cradle the back of my neck. He left me breathless with another kiss.
"Then I will kiss you at any possible moment so there is no room for another to take my place in your mind." He breathed.
Ugh, how are you so stupidly adorable!?
I raised an eyebrow at him.
"I'm not a cheater, Raven."
He frowned in question, "Cheater?"
Oh right, human slang again.
"Someone who has an affair outside of a committed relationship." I explained.
"Ah..."
"I will be loyal to you as long as you want me." I quietly whispered.
"I will always want you." He said, pressing a fluttering kiss onto my lips.
I gently nuzzled his nose. He nuzzled back. The wrinkle left his brow.
"I still do not wish you to retire." He lightly chuckled.
I grinned at him.
"Then let's go wander around. I'll even let you hold my hand." I giggled.
"I very much like that idea."
With the heat of our palms pressed together, and his fingers gently interlaced with mine, we walked aimlessly. All I could do was stupidly grin as I kept stealing side long glances at him. His smiling stare was always looking back. I giggled like a little girl every time we made eye contact. The happiness and giddiness were bubbling in my gut.
Our feet finally stopped at the docks. My legs dangled at the knees as I sat on the wood planks. Kagorn was settled next to me. I rested my head on his shoulder. His thumb was slowly rubbing my skin, our hands still interlocked.
The moonlight was beautifully rippling across the surface of the bay. The water lazily lapped at the anchored boats. Even the owls were calling softly in the night. Everything felt so magical.
"I feel as if I am dreaming every moment I am with you." His quiet voice broke our silence.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yes, you are…such a wonderment to me." His voice was fluttering.
My heart splashed into my gut as I swooned.
You're so romantic.
"I'm not casting any spells, just so you know." I joked.
He chuckled, "You might as well be, I am bound to you."
I lightly laughed with him. I stared up at the shimmering stars.
"You mean a lot to me, Raven." I said softly.
His voice was timid, "What do you value about me?"
"You're so…attentive, I guess that's the best way to put it. I totally thought you'd be a completely different being. I was surprised by how quiet and caring you are. I know you say I invested a lot of time into you, but you do the same for me constantly."
He squeezed my hand.
"It cannot be helped. I have an insatiable desire to care for you…"
I bit the smile playing on my lip.
"…You surprised me as well. I did not expect you to speak to me the way that you did."
I hummed in curiousity, "What do you mean?"
"You treated me as a familiar. When I woke to find you had already given me a name of endearment, I felt a bond with you. It imprinted on my mind that you had cared for me even when I had nothing to offer. I feared speaking because I worried that you would suddenly remember your station was far below mine, and break the connection you had created. This is why I remained quiet for so long. I enjoyed your informalities. The way you talked was as if we had been friends for an eternity. I had never felt such a strong connection with a being before."
My heart felt swollen.
"You've never felt that before? You haven't had any lovers?"
"No, not technically speaking. I was betrothed in my youth to an elf one century my senior. I supposed my parents felt she would be compatible for me. The older I became, the more it was apparent she was not interested in understanding my soul. Our bond was simply a functional one. As I gained rank through the military, she became obsessed with our growing station. I was a trophy and a prize to flaunt. Her attempts to control and manipulate to create appearances left me disgusted…"
He paused for a moment. I could feel him take a deep breath.
"…I left her standing at the alter nearly a half century ago. I have felt no regret for such a decision. It was since then I found myself floating in an abyss of uncertainty. I did not know what I was searching for until I met you." His voice faded.
I was sure my chest would explode. The emotions in my heart were left raw and aching. I felt so connected and desired. I shifted my head to look at him. His vulnerable gaze let me in. I looked back for a long time. His gentle smile matched mine. I nuzzled my head back on his shoulder to look out on the bay again.
"I kinda had a lover once. Looking back I can clearly see it wasn't love. But hey, I was young and dumb at the time. First love is always the most naive. I think it's 'cause you don't really know what love is supposed to be.
Anyways, He was just using me for my body to the pass the time. I didn't really figure out he didn't love me until I stumbled upon him kissing a local bar maid. He disowned me right in front of her. It was then I figured out love is a whole lot more than intimacy and flirtations." I sighed in recollection.
I felt him move my hand to hold it against his chest. When I met his gaze, his deep swirling stare recaptured me all over again.
"I promise with the entirety of my being to treat you with nothing less than what you deserve." His quiet statement held a richness to it that made me shiver.
By the gods, Raven. You make my heart hurt.
I shifted. Resting my hand on his cheek, I leaned in close. Gently I pressed a tiny kiss to the tip of his nose.
"I promise you the same, alright?" I whispered.
His lips sucked me back into a whirlwind of wistful dreams, butterflies, and rainbows.
