The morning was cold and gloomy. Snow had fell the night before. Not a single human was outside, except one.
The boy was fairly pale and covered in filth. He was small for his age and very skinny to the point where you can see his bones from starvation. His green eyes were dull from the lack of love and excitement. Also because he was blind. His hair was covered in filth from sleeping on the ground or in abandoned houses or the woods. So it was hard to tell if he had blond hair or really dark brown.
He left the abandoned home that he was currently staying in, searching for food and staying out of sight. Staying out of sight from what? The creatures that lurk at night hunting and feeding on anything they can get their pale cold hands on. In other words, vampyres.
Vampyres have been killing off small towns for centuries. The population in humans have decreased tremendously since the revolution against vampyres in 1790. Only few have lived in the shadows hiding from the covens, especially from the Royal Coven. If a human was found, they're taken to the Royal Coven for their fate to be decided.
The Royal Coven is the main coven that led the vampyres iinto battle against humans. They are higher ranked and have powers. The current king of the covens is Michael van Count. He has the power to read minds. His wife, Lady Karen van Count, has the power of healing. They have a son and a daughter. Their daughter, Melany, is far too young to know what her power is. Their son, Darius, is of age to take the rigjtful place of the throne. But he cant until he finds his mate. His power is to manipulate all humans and vampyres to do as he says. It's been said that he's ruthless and sinister since he hasn't found his mate.
The boy wandered through the abandoned town in search of food. The morning sun was barely peaking through the horizon. He scurried across the street to what looked like a run down local grocery store. The doors were locked and the windows were boarded up. The boy quickly walked to the back of the store, looking out for any vampyres. Once he made it to the back, he quickly tried to pick the lock and succeeded. He went inside and closed the door behind him.
The store was trashed on the inside. There was some food left, nothing nutritious or fresh. The freshest thing that was in the store was a bag of chips that were well over 7 years past the expiration date. The boy looked through every isle, gathering as much food as he possibly could, until he heard the sound of a door closing. The boy stopped and quietly as possible crawled into the empty shelf. He held his breath as he listened out for the sound of footsteps, but there wasn't any. That could only mean one thing...there was a vampyre in the store.
The boy rolled out of the tight space and crawled to the end of the isles. He looked around and didn't see the vampyre. Slowly, he stood and crept his way to the door, looking out for the vampyre. Luckily he haven't ran into it yet. He made it to the door and out the store safely, but he wasn't all too safe. He needed to get back to the abandoned house.
He scurried down the path he took as quickly as his human legs could carry him. Once he made it out of the town, he let go of the breath he was holding. The boy's pace slowed down some and continued to walk back to the house. What he doesn't know is that he vampyre has been following him from the store. The vampyre snuck up behind the boy and grabbed him from behind. All the boy knew was that he saw darkness as his world turned black.
