My father had a heart attack and was hospitalized. I found out on my way to work, after I had dropped the younger kids at daycare and school. The older kids don't have cellphones, so there was no way I could call them to tell them I was going to the hospital after work, but I still went. He was doing alright and my older sister and mother were there, so I didn't stay very long.

When I got back home, I was met with two angry teenage girls and a mildly upset Orovax.

"You did it again." Deraneth said as she walked up to me and pointed at me. I frowned.

"My father was in the hospital." I said, "I went to visit him. I only found out that he was hospitalized this morning on my way to work and since I can't afford phones for everyone, I wasn't able to tell you."

"Why do you always act as if Mr. Towers cheated on you, Deraneth?" Orovax asked, "Do you like him?" Deraneth blushed, dropped her hand, and took a step back. I walked away.

"Me? Like him?" Deraneth asked, "I mean... Sure, he's nice and rather handsome too, but I'm too young for him..." I was very flattered, but she was right, she was only 16 and I was 8 years older than her.

We made dinner together, Deraneth, Izadeth, Orovax, and myself, like nothing had happened. Or at least that's what I wanted to believe, because Deraneth cut her fingers while trying to cut vegetables. I had Izadeth stop what he was doing and take care of his twin, which neither of the two were happy with.
