He was standing alone in his room, and he felt lonely. He was so deep in thought about Maya that he didn't even notice that James had entered his room. James touched his shoulder and Brian jumped back in surprise. “Don't scare me like that!” Brian almost shouted. “Sorry.” said James and chuckled. He was watching Brian with an amused expression. “What?” Brian snapped. “Whats her name?”
“What?”
“Your mate. Whats her name?”
“How did you find out?”
“By looking at you. Now whats her name?”
“Maya.” Brian sighted happily. “She's beautiful.”
“Was she the one who came her earlier to talk to the crying girl?”
“Yeah, it was her sister.” Brian answered and Scott knocked on the door. He stuck his head in and smiled. “Were going out to eat, wanna come with?”
……………..
The boys was at a restaurant eating and talking. It had been a long while since they had done anything all together like this. They were also waiting for their two other friends Talia and Aurora. They were running late because of Talia and her shopping. Aurora hated shopping with a burning passion.
Aurora was the kind of girl who wore the first thing she grabbed in the morning, but she always looked good. She had bark brown hair with pink at the tips. And her eyes were green. She had a light skin complection and loved training.
Talia was the complete opposite. She was very considerate to what she wore and had blonde hair. Scott was her twin brother, but she was the oldest. they both had blue eyes and were tall, and their skin was tan.
Just when Brian was about to call the girl, they came bursting into the restaurant. There was another person with them too. Brian watched, not believing his eyes. Maya was with them. Talia was practically dragging her by her wrists. She looked uncomfortable.
The girls got to the table and pushed Maya to sit. When she did she noticed Brian at the table and smiled at him. Brian felt his heart flutter slightly. He smiled back and went back to eating his food.
“I’ve seen you around school sometimes.” Talia said to Maya. “Yeah, I’m new.” Maya answered shyly.
“Do you like it here?” Aurora asked.
Maya looked at her and gave a warm smile. “Yes I do. It’s really nice here.” she answered. “Do you have any hobbies?” James asked next. Brian was almost sure they were interrogating her for his benefit, and he was listening to everything she said. “I do archery and read. That’s pretty much it.” Maya said and looked at everyone when no one said anything.
“So you can like, kill me?” Scott asked jokingly and ended the silence. “In theory, yes. I’ve never shot at a person before, though.” Maya answered and Scott looked impressed. “What about competitions?”
“I’m going to the national competition nexts month.”
“Wow. Cool.”
“It’s really fun.” Maya said and laughed silently. Her laughter echoed through Brian’s head and he couldn’t help but to smile at her.
“Have you been to the local bookstore yet? It’s amazing, and is very cheap.” said Talia. She was a bit of a reader but not much. “No, but I was planning to find it today actually.” Maya responded. “We could go together someday if you’d like?” Talia asked, and waited for an answer. “That would be great.” she said, and Brian felt a bit jealous. He too wanted to spend time with Maya.
Everyone was leaving the restaurant, and Brian noticed Maya walking alone. He was quickly by her side and walked with her, leaving his car at the parking spot. “Hey.” he said when he caught up to her. “Hi.” she answered. “Do you want me to show you the bookshop?” Brian asked her hopefully.
“If you don't mind.”
“Right this way.” Brian said and led the way down the street.
The bookshop was in front of them and Maya was beaming. Brian felt a smile tug at his lips. He was proud of himself for making her happy. Before he could react she was inside the store, walking around. She ignored the feeling of Brian's eyes on her as she kept looking. He was watching her happily and after a while started looking at some books himself. He didn't read if it wasn't for school though.
