It took four days for Ghost to move his arm. During those four days, I walked through the fortress alone, avoiding Isaiah. Something about him made me feel uncomfortable, I didn't want to be alone with him. I've seen more and more starving children, most were under the age of ten. The little girl must have told the other hungry children because for the past few days children came to the alcove in searching of food. Which Ghost and I were happy to give up.
I sat beside Ghost, my hands pressed against his uninjured shoulder as Winston examined the nearly formed scab.
"Can you move your shoulder for me?" Asked Winston and Ghost moved his shoulder, this time he only hissed in pain instead of screaming out like he had done when he first tried moving his arm.
Winston nodded with approval, "You're doing a lot better, Ghost. You didn't pass out this time." Ghost glared at him but kept his mouth shut, he just continued to work out his arm.
"Winston," a soft voice called from the door way.
We turned to an older girl standing outside the doorway.
"Can I help you?" Winston asked.
"Isaiah wants to see you in private." The girl said and her eyes went from Winston, to me, to Ghost and they stayed on him.
Winston nodded before standing up and brushing his hand through his hair.
"Alright, I'll be right back. Ghost, keep working on your shoulder." Said Winston as he walked out of the alcove; the older girl tore her attention from Ghost and she followed Winston.
"Hey, looks like someone here actually likes you." I teased Ghost and he rolled his eyes at me.
"Doesn't really matter, with my shoulder healing, we can get out of here." Ghost commented as eh rotated his newly healing shoulder. I nodded in agreement; the light atmosphere changed to one with a darker tone. We had no intentions of staying in this fortress because sooner or later, if we stay, we would have to fight for our own food.
"We'll leave tomorrow. It's starting to get dark." I said and he nodded in agreement.
I let go of Ghost's shoulder and leaned back on to my elbows and said, "Get some rest, we're going to need it."
