“Ah, peachy.” Solomon thought to himself. At least he wouldn’t have to talk to any more people at the moment. He hoped that he wouldn’t have to handle this whole project on his own, although he had to admit that this Skyler got things done. But, Skyler had made a scene of things. And on the first day of all things. Dandy. Well, he would at least make the best of things. Perhaps Skyler was creative, or good at planning, or...well, anything would be better than the norm of males. Solomon did his best to ignore the looks some of the classmates were giving him, looking instead towards Skyler as if waiting for him to return and continue the project.
Skyler walked up to Solomon wringing his hands. “I’m sorry Solomon, I could tell you wanted to work alone so I tried to ask the teacher. I didn’t mean to force you into a partnership. I can do the work by myself if you’d like.” He looked at Solomon scared of how’d he respond.
Solomon couldn’t hold in the sigh this time, although it was more a gesture then a sound. He waved a hand, as if saying it didn’t matter. “It’s fine.”. He stated flippantly, if not matter of factly, as if it could be no other way.
“What Manipulation did you have, if you don’t mind me asking?”. Solomon asked, although irritation was subtly layered underneath the words so that it would seem like someone only imagined the tone.
Skyler knew he was irritated. He could tell these things. “I can tell your irritated. You don’t need to hide it.” Skyler said.
Solomon looked at Skyler blankly, starting to tap his fingers on the desk. He, for one, didn’t like it when people ignored his questions. And he especially didn’t like it when people tried to figure out what he’s thinking or feeling, even if they may be right.
Skyler looked at him. “My manipulation?” I’m a Pychokinetic. What’s yours?” He sat down turned his chair so it was facing Solomon.
“Materiakinetics.” Solomon stated, matter of factly, and perhaps a tad proudly. He had always admired how logical his mind was, but he never knew it was this powerful. Until now of course. He began thinking how the two could mix together, looking down at his still tapping fingers.
Skyler smiled slightly. He could sense his emotions and he could tell that Solomon was pleased with his power.
"I guess he has the right to be," thought Skyler. “That’s a pretty awesome skill” he said aloud. “What do you want our project to be on?”
“Perhaps...we could see how my Manipulation cannot create similar changes as yours?” He asked, although it would sound more like a statement, as he gave it no inflection. “In example, you can change hair color, if I am not mistaken, while I cannot even though we both manipulate matter to some degree.”. He finished, happy with his idea and explanation of such. He forcibly stopped his fingers from tapping, looking back up to Skyler with a blank expression.
“That’s a great idea!” Skyler smiled a bit. For fun, he changed Solomon’s hair color to the same color of his own eyes, bright green. Skyler laughed and said, “Nice upgrade, Solomon, can I call you Sol?”
Solomon plucked a piece of his hair, looking at the vibrant green of it with slight irritation. “Funny.” He stated melodramatically. He looked at the piece of hair, splitting his mind into two different awareness’. The piece of hair suddenly caught fire, as he changed its properties so that it would combust when in contact with air. The flame quickly died out, seeing as that amount of hair isn’t the best fuel source, and Solomon let the small amount of burnt hair fall out of his hand. “And no, you cannot call me ‘Sol’.” He told him matter of factly.
“Sure thing Sol,” Skyler teasingly added. He concentrated and returned Solomon’s hair back to brown. Skyler turned his chair the right way and grabbed a pencil. “I don’t have any ideas, It might be hard, but it’s definitely going to be fun.” At that moment the bell rang and the children got up and started filling out the door. “Before you go, I need your dorm room number. We’re going to have to do this project after school at least.” Skyler grabbed a piece of paper. “My dorm number is F12.” Skyler slid the paper over towards Solomon.
Solomon was in the process of gathering his stuff when Skyler handed him the piece of paper, so he had to set his books down to grab the paper. He nodded, putting it into his book, as he couldn’t argue with that logic no matter how much he wanted to. “E7”. Solomon told Skyler, getting a pencil and writing down his dorm number on a small slip of paper before handing it to Skyler. “We can work on it after classes today, if neither of us becomes overburdened with other flippantly.
Skyler smiled. “I’ll see ya then,” he said. gathering his things and standing up and walking out of the classroom.
