I often draw in straight lines. This is probably because of my affinity for speed in the roughs. With speed, it is more difficult for me to control the shape of a line and so I gravitate towards straight lines, which are easier. This results in very angular results, most evident in the hair.
There is a sort of nice stylistic aesthetic created with this phenomenon, however, it is easy to lose the flow of a drawing which can result in static inactive poses. This may also be due to my adherence to three-dimensional form. I am trying to break or soften this habit of mine as to realize the adage of "action before anatomy", though in this case the adage is not limited to anatomy and includes the rigid form of all subjects.
