The next day Na'eemah was itching with anticipation to meet with Dathuil. She was a flurry of movement surprising her attendants as she opted for a shower instead of her usual bath and even took an apple meant as an offering for her mothers temple. Na'eemah quickly dressed in her usual temple robes and then teleported to the temple. Right before she opened the doors to the alter room A soft voice filtered through her ears.
" You seem to be in quite the rush."
Na'eemah turned her head to see who had spoken and was met with the face of one of the high priestesses, Rania. She stood across from Na'eemah at the front of the entrance. She had a pretty face and thick eyebrows, she was shorted than Na'eemah and not as much shape.
" I am indeed. I have an appointment later on today."
Rania lifted a brow and gave her a condescending look " Is that what you're calling your time with that demon?"
Na'eemah scoffed. " He is still a child of his God and he's not going to be in Hell for much longer."
Rania tilted her head and gave Na'eemah a pitying look. " Do you really think he's going to return to the light after being in the dark for so long?"
"And what about us? We are part of an underworld system as well." Na'eemah challenged.
" We aren't the same. Our underworlds are different. We don't even deal with the afterlife in the same manner. We have no mercy in allowing a soul to continue after living so poorly or committing a huge sin against our Gods."
Na'eemah clenched her fists silently.
"Na'eemah you've allowed that demon to chase after you for so long even though you know he won't be accepted. His hell allows a torture of the soul. and there as many wars there as there are in heaven itself. Do you think Kebechet would let you keep our station if you decided to actually mate with him? He does no good and kills under the guise of being a misunderstood fallen angel. Would you choose him over us and your lineage?"
There was a sort silence and then with a disappointed look Rania entered the alter room. Na'eemah let out a heavy sigh and followed after her. They went through their usual rituals and then Kebechet made her appearance as she had promised.
"Does anyone have any news for me to day?" She asked in her typical slow speaking manner.
"I do." Rania said with confidence and Kebechet motioned for her to continue speaking.
" Everything that the Highest Priestess told you yesterday was for the most part wrong." Rania said seriously "While the underworld of Hell does have a part to play in this, in no way possible doe the Goddess Olokun nor her daughter the Goddess Amara, have a part to play in the evil deeds being conducted on humans."
"And how do you know this?" Na'eemah asked
"Because I asked around about that specific thing. Olokun wants nothing to do with their Devil."
"What about Amara? She's still running around in Hell."
Rania huffed " Yes and do you know why?"
"Because she's trying to start an uprising and encouraging Beelzebub." Na'eemah reasoned
"No. That is just your own belief of what she's oing because, granted no one just willingly waltzes into Hell." Rania turned back to Kebechet.
" She's actually there to gather information from the being there herself and does so under the guise that we've basically given her. Apparently Satan himself has heard the rumor that she wishes to take him into her bed in her mothers place and now has switch tactics and is pursuing her. Now she's gathering intel as well as trying to hide from Satan in a way that doesn't make it seem that shes hiding but rather giving chase."
"Where are you even getting this from?" Na'eemah asked.
Rania didn't turn to face her but continued to look at her Goddess. " I've gained this information from a high priestess that follows Olokun that lives in the city of Nice. I found her by asking the ocean to lead me to a follower of Olokun. I've already been stationed in Nice but I had never ran into this woman. But it was in the dead of the night and they were having some ritual going on at the beach, in the water. I waited until they were done and finished cleaning to make my approach. They were more than willing to tell me what they know and clear the name of their Goddess and Amara. Surprisingly they didn't know Amara was Olokuns daughter by birth and I didn't explain any further. I'm sure Olokun has her reasons. I got my answers from a credible source and by priestesses who are also working hard to bring an end to the madness. The humans are becoming restless and governments are using the fear of the sudden behaviors to wage war against other countries and even change how their own governments are run."
Kebechet pursed her full lips and then gave her daughter a mean side eye before turning to face her and giving her a full scolding glare. " Do you see now, what I meant by going out and doing your own work Na'eemah. You just relied on that hell heathen you love so much and he gave you false information."
Na'eemah gave her mother a hard look. " You are just choosing to believe her because what she is telling you coincides with what you want to believe. I spoke to a god of the Tuatha Dé Danann yesterday afternoon and he said they've also noticed the things we have and that his father Aengus, said that it's been harder for him to spread love and that it's not only the doing of Satan but other Gods as well. He said he couldn't remember the names but would go back and speak to his father. We're supposed to meet tonight. I'm also planning to ask where there might be any fae so I can ask what they've heard even the Vampires."
Kebechet tilted her head slightly " Umm maybe not the vampires. I wouldn't mind if you sent devilmaycry out to do that one. But fine, everything else sounds good. By doing your own work you are hearing everything for yourself and thats what is important."
The goddess looked around and asked if there were anymore reports. There weren't. With a sigh and slight nod she looked around the room. " Keep at it. I don't expect you all to find all the information and then tackle things head on yourself. But the information you give me is shared amongst us in this realm. Even if the information is the same for some of us, every tidbit counts because there could have been something that was said to one of you but not to another priestess out there. Okay, that is all you all can go back, except for Na'eemah. You come with me."
Na'eemah bit the inside of her cheek anxiously as she quickly followed after her mother behind the statue and then disappeared into her mothers space.
The interior of the room was made with pink limestone and the hieroglyphics were painted in gold. There was a massive window that allowed you to see the outside. In her part of the underworld all that was seen was a sky full of purple and pink clouds and the air looked as if one was in water. There was sand for as far as her eye could see and a few palm trees scattered throughout. It was breath taking. In front of the window was a large desk with a scroll and a book on top, next to it was an over stuffed stool chair. Far off to the right stood a small seating area a chaise lounge chair was placed in front of three large and golden chairs. The seats were leather and there were colorful pillows mainly in hues of blue on the seats.
As soon as they arrived Kebechet's attendants arrived with two goblets of wine and plenty of fruit. Kebechet took her glass and then gracefully walked over to the chaise and lounged upon it before motioning for Na'eemah to follow. Na'eemah followed her mother and took her own glass of wine before sitting in the chair directly opposite of her. Kebechet took a big gulp of her wine and then stared at her daughter silently. Na'eemah sat there nervous as to what she was going to say. Would she say she was a bad high priestess? Would she be lectured again on her relationship with Allocen? Did her grandfather find out? Was he angry?
"I do not want you to end up like me." Kebechet said finally
Na'eemah did not expect that.
~~~~A LONG ASS TIME AGO~~~~~~~~~~
Kebechet watched as the men filtered into her temple. Her father really treasured her and as such told his followers to build a temple for his daughter for with out her, their souls would sully the Land of the Two Fields of the afterlife if they managed to live a life that was worthy of entering the paradise. Now she had a huge temple to walk through and conversations to listen upon. She found the men to be quite interesting. They talked of politics and literature and she understood much more now that she could see and interat with the humans. She could only interact with them when there was a major issue but it was fun nonetheless. The High priests of her temple were very kind and had no problems worshiping a female Goddess. They would even give her scrolls to read during her free time. Then one day a new high priest came. She had sent off the former priest giving him his glass of water that was mixed with her magic. The water would then further cleanse his soul and elevate him so he could enter the afterlife. This new high Priest was not at all like the former.
He spoke to her only when needed and that was that, she didn't like that. With only the Gods and Goddesses of the afterlife as well as any souls they deal with, Kebechet made friends with all of the high prists of her temple. They were her only true link to the outside world. Her father indulged her and allowed her free roam of all of Egypt so long as it was night and she had a high priest with her for added security. Kebechet spent a whole year sneaking scrolls out of his library before he finally gave in and spoke to her.
" Beloved Goddess, please return the scroll you took from my library." He asked after one day when he caught her throwing rocks at him.
"You aren't any fun." She replied " Why should I return them to you? All you do is read and talk politics with other priests and ignore me. I can talk politics, I can read and write. I want you to tell me things too."
The High Priest Djedi looked at the young woman before him and crossed his arms in frustration. His skin was looked smooth and was dark like chocolate. His face even while being serious was handsome. His black ink eyes, full lips and strong build could make any womans heart flutter.
" Goddess Kebechet, I am only trying to do my job." He pleaded
" Well I want to have people to talk to and only the high priests can see me. You're the only high priest Djedi. You can't be that busy that you can't indulge me for a few hours a day. You are the only high priests to have come here and pay me, your goddess no mind." With that she lightly flicked a rock at his head.
Djedi held the side of his head and glared at her.
" I have more rocks and I have more than enough time to steal from your library. One day you might come in and find it completely barren not even your furniture would be left." She said but her face held sadness and loneliness filler here eyes.
Djedi sighed and looked at the young female before him. Her hair was twisted into locs that were left unloc'ed at the bottom and with how she styled her hair she often looked like she had a hundred hair colored snakes slithering over her scalp. Her face was beautiful she only ever wore eyeliner, brow paint and kept a slight red tint to her lips. Her skin was a golden brown that seemed to actually shimmer and her eyes were an ocean blue color. Of course to any mortal man she was beautiful. Djedi found her so beautiful he opted to try to avoid her as long as possible. A woman so beautiful but could never belong to a mortal man. He fell in love with her beauty and was uncomfortable being in her presence. Because he knew what he was and was not allowed to do. But today she won. She looked so sad and dejected and he didn't have it in his heart to reject her again.
" Okay, fine, what would you like to do today?" He asked finally
From that day on they spent large quantities of time together. Slowly Kebechet began falling for Djedi and then one day she confessed. There was a celebration for the new year and they were watching some late night festivities from the veranda of the Kings palace. She knew what she was doing and it wasn't often for members of the Egyptian pantheon to copulate with humans or have any sort of romantic relationship with a mortal. But here she was ready to give this man her heart. As they watched the festivities below, Kebechet wrapped her arm around his waist and smoothly slid into his view. Djedi gave her a surprised look and then she leaned forward and pressed her lips against his. She stayed there for a moment before pulling away slightly.
" I can't accept your confession, Kebi." He said softly.
"Why not? I can see how you look at me. You can not fool me into thinking you don't love me."
" I- I fell for your beauty."
Kebechet gave him a knowing smile " And then?"
" I fell for your smarts, your humor and your passion for what you care about."
"You serve me, if I give you permission to love me, romantically, then isn't that enough?" She asked.
They still hadn't moved from their positions only a hairs width apart from the others lips. For a while it was quiet as they stared into the eyes of the other.
"Okay, then allow me to serve you, my beloved Goddess." Djedi said finally and kissed her deeply.
Kebechet held onto his robes and without a sound they disappeared into her realm space. They landed unceremoniously into her bed and she pulled his accessories and his robes off of his body. He grabbed her hands and gave her a gentle smile. "It's okay to move slowly." He said with a laugh
They spent the rest of the night exploring each others bodies as they made love. This was the beginning of the end of their relationship. After being together in secret for many years, Kebechet felt something was off especially when sh tried to use her powers. After contemplating it for a while she went to her great- great grand aunt Hathor who was very sweet and motherly but also helped her get away with mischievous things when she was a child. "Who is your lover, child?" Hathor asked her
Kebechet was afraid to say " What does having a lover or not have to do with anything?"
Hathor looked at her with watery eyes " Because you are going to have a child of your own soon. Does your father know you've kept a lover? Is it Thoth? I know you two often went for walks and studied together. "
Kebechet shook her head. As much as she had a crush on the God of wisdom she distanced herself once she began her relationship with Djedi. The Egyptian Gods loved humans and looked out for their well being they would actually take one as a lover and always scoffed at the Greeks who would wage wars and fight with one another over human lovers. Kebechet felt like crying and looked at her relative with pleading eyes. "What should I do? He's a mortal. I didn't even thin a mortal could even-It's been so many years and I never- Hathor what about my father?"
