'I believe so,' it replied.
The beast paused and grunted as another wave of nausea hit us. It took a moment to get the feeling under control before continuing.
'From a live human like the boy is. After the process is over, I will become even more ill than we(?) are feeling now and I will no longer be able to keep him down.'it finished saying.
'That'll be fun. Is this going to happen every time we do this?' I asked it.
'I--wait...we?' The beast said right before the symptoms of his body's rejection of the boy came roaring back during it's momentary lapse of focus.
'Ooooh, I think we should talk about this later. I don't want to distract you like that again.' I told it.
'Agreed,' the beast said as it wrestled to get what we were both feeling back under control again after I had distracted it.
' And what would that be?' it asked me.
'Are you...um...ur.. male?' I tentatively asked.
' Technically no, but I do identify as being male if this answers your question.' he told me.
'Sort of but I take it there's more to it than what you've just said.' I replied.
'A bit, yes.'
'I'll add that to the list of things we need to talk about later.' I told him.
I felt him nod our head in response before he immersed himself back into his symptom suppressing meditation. To occupy myself while I waited for the inevitable up chucking of the kid, I went into my own version of a meditative state. I organized my thoughts and sorted through the events of the night far. I analyzed my memories and made mental notes of useful information and filed them away for later. I had only gotten up to the point where Indy and I had just reached the monument when I heard something snap which was followed by a low soft neigh.
'Hey, uh, beast?' I said as I gave his mind a mental nudge.
'Yes?' He asked, partially rousing himself from his meditation to turn his attention to me.
'I think we have company.' I told him
'We do? I hope they are friendly then because I doubt I am able to defend us in our(?) current condition.'
he said to me tiredly. 'The kid is hitting you hard, huh.'
'Quite, and I believe I used too much of my remaining reserves to intimidate the others.' he replied.
'Well, if it helps any, I think it might be one of the local demon horses. Possibly even Silver, the one I've tamed.' I told him.
'Sounds promising,' he commented.
'Yeah, and even it isn't him, I don't think we have anything to worry about from the others. Because, as far as I know, the only meat they like is the long dead kind.'
