Catherine McDowell and Hillora Lang are sisters, co-authors, and the only known writing duo to have been banned from a Renaissance Faire for "excessive historical pedantry and also the incident with the peacock." One is a former competitive cheese sculptor who pivoted to romance after her entry at the World Dairy Championships was disqualified for "structural integrity issues and emotional manipulation"; the other is a reformed pigeon racer who quit the sport after her prize bird, Lord Featherbottom, eloped with a seagull. Together, they write Regency romances where absolutely everyone makes terrible decisions and somehow it works out.
Catherine handles the plots involving inheritance disputes, because she once won a cheese wheel in a legal settlement and understands property law better than anyone should. Hillora manages all the romantic tension, having learned about longing from watching Lord Featherbottom choose freedom over glory. They both insist that the peacock incident was "wildly misrepresented" and that technically they were asked to leave, not banned, which is "legally distinct."
Their books feature star-crossed lovers, poorly timed declarations, and at least one scene where someone makes a choice so baffling that three separate characters stop to ask "but why though?" They write for readers who understand that true love requires poor judgment, excellent timing, and a complete disregard for what anyone else thinks is reasonable.
