Ringo Awards 2021: Open Nominations

It’s time to nominate and promote your favorite works from 2020! The 2021 Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards, or the Ringo Awards, have open nominations until June 24th.

Let’s use this opportunity to support each other and the amazing work you’ve all done this past year by voting for your favorite community series. Its open nomination and voting system gives us a chance to share our community’s unique voices and storytelling!

About the Ringo Awards

The Ringo Awards are an annual award for achievement in comics across a variety of categories, which you can read more about on the site. The nomination process relies heavily on popular voting, with almost all of the category finalists being determined by either popular vote or a combination of popular vote and jury selections. The voting ballot is a write-in ballot, so fans just need to go to the website and write in their picks for each category.

To give you more information behind Mike Wieringo:

Michael Lance “Mike” Wieringo (June 24, 1963 – August 12, 2007), who often signed his work Ringo, is an American comics artist best known for his work on DC Comics’ The Flash, Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four, and his co-creation Tellos. These awards are a celebration of Mike’s creative spirit. Mike, who sadly passed away at a young age, was a huge inspiration to a generation of comic creators.

Nomination Eligibility 

Eligibility for creators and new creative works is determined by publication in the preceding calendar year – print publication date takes precedence over electronic publication date (Diamond Direct Market street date is used). For electronic works, the date of publication is time-stamped with most publications and at least 3 episodes/installments of continuing works must have appeared during the eligibility period.

How to Participate

1. Go to https://ringoawards.com/ and go to their ballot by clicking “Click here to nominate your Favorites!”

2. Fill in as many or as few categories as you want. Note that some ask for the creator’s names, others for series’ names (or both).

3. Hint: The winners of categories that contain the word ‘Favorite’ are largely determined by fan votes! So this is where your vote will count the most!

5. Once you’re done and you click ‘Continue’, make sure to send your votes (one additional button on a new page).
