  • Presenting Creator Incubator Class #2!

    Aug 31, 2018

First off, we’d like to thank each and every one of you who sent in a submission to our second round of the Tapas Creator Incubator Program. We were blown away by the level of detail and dedication put into all of the entries, and it was very difficult to make a decision. Every story that we saw was unique and thoughtfully crafted, and spoke to how passionate our community of creators has always been.

That being said, we’re very excited to congratulate and welcome Thabfu and Sera Swati into Class #2 of the Creator Incubator Program!

Thabfu is a French comic artist living in Paris who has previously worked as a concept and storyboard artist for feature films. She started drawing comics when she realized how fun and freeing it was to tell her own stories, as you can see from her series on Tapas, Dear Diary. She loves to inspire people on an emotional level, and is always looking for new life experiences in order to translate them into stories!

Keep an eye out for her comic The Five Suits, a fun and action-packed superhero story with a splash of romance. We loved Thabfu’s unique and dynamic art style, as well as her fresh take on the superhero genre--the all girls cast and thoughtful, sensitive storytelling explore what it means to be a hero and protect the ones you love.

Sera Swati has written and drawn stories since childhood but didn’t pursue a career in the arts until college. She graduated with a degree in Emerging Media, Experimental Animation, but her love and previous study of psychology shows through in her storytelling--exploration of human nature remains at the core of the stories she writes, as shown in her series on Tapas, Essential Chemistry. She hopes to encourage fellow artists who also want to tell stories!

Look out for her comic Swaha, a beautiful and epic romance about a love that even 2500 years of reincarnation, demigods, demons, and nymphs can’t come between. We were wowed by her gorgeous character designs, and by how seamlessly she wove a tale incorporating both Ancient Hindu mythology as well as contemporary fantasy.

We can’t wait to work with Thabfu and Sera Swati as they create their stories to share with you!

To all of those who applied, thank you again for your participation! To those of you were unable to participate in this round, please don’t be discouraged. We plan to hold a third round early in 2019, so keep an eye out and stay inspired! We’re looking forward to seeing everyone’s submissions.

In the meantime, we encourage everyone to keep creating and publishing on Tapas. If you’re interested in learning more about what you can do on Tapas, you can read more here. We can’t wait to see you all for our third round in 2019!

All the best,

Chang Kim & The Tapas Staff
