  • Creator Newsletter Recap

    Nov 01, 2018

Recently, we've sent out two Creator Newsletters to inform creators about the exciting new changes that will be coming to Tapas very soon. We understand that not all creators received the email, because of being classified as spam or because of notification settings. We posted the content of those newsletters here for all creators to view.

Hey hi hello,

It’s been a while since we’ve last sent one of these out! We’ve been hard at work making improvements to the Tapas app and website, and we wanted to take a minute to share some exciting cosmetic changes that will be coming soon to Tapas.

Here at Tapas, we believe in creating new and fun ways to empower both readers and creators through the use of technology and storytelling. We’ve done this through creating sustainable revenue streams in our Premium Program, introducing a variety of tools for readers to earn coins for free, and developing the Tapas Tipping feature which empowered readers to directly support all of their favorite creators.

And while talking to readers and creators, we tried to identify the story that we’re trying to tell with Tapas not only as a platform, a community of readers, a family of creators, but as an experience that unifies all three.

Whether it’s traditional or digital, ink is the foundation of everything we do at Tapas. It’s come to represent creativity and enthusiasm which we see so much of within our readers and creators. We want Tapas to reflect our readers and creators, and so we’ll be reimaging the current Tapas Coin Shop. We’re excited to showcase the new look and feel of Tapas with the introduction of the Ink Shop.

The Ink Shop is primarily a cosmetic change, readers will still be able to support creators through unlocking episodes and tipping, only instead of coins, it’ll be with ink drops. All of the pricing and conversion to dollar amounts will remain the same.

The update to the Ink Shop is one of the ways we want to start bringing readers and creators closer together. We’ll be developing more tools around the theme of Ink and better integrating this theme throughout Tapas to help communicate we’re all in this together.

We’ll also be rolling out an update to Tipping alongside the Ink Shop. For starters, we’ll be rebranding Tipping and the Tipping Feature to be referred to as Support and the Support Program. This harkens back to an older feature that we used to have on the desktop version of the site. When we first launched Tipping, we always envisioned it to be a work in progress and now that we’re adding some really cool features to it, we thought it was a great time to unveil its new name.

With the update, fans will be able to leave a small note of encouragement to accompany their support, which creators will be able to respond to. Not only that, but creators will be able to set a custom support message to let fans know how their support is directly helping them. We have a number of other improvements that will be coming to the Support Program very shortly.

We also have an exciting community event coming up soon that will heavily feature the Support Program so stay tuned for that announcement!
