I quickly open my hazel-colored eyes. I am drenched with sweat. I get out my recorder, and hold the red button, and sigh.
“Log date: 7/6/84 no, 7/5/84 it’s hard to keep count. I woke up because of a dream again. Why does this keep happening to me? I am always sweaty-”
“Ben come down here right now!”
I let go of the red button on my recorder. “Yeah, mom I will be down in a sec!”
“You mean you will be downstairs right NOW?”
“Sure!” I shove my recorder in my pocket. Kiss my girlfriend, Katy, goodbye, which hurts a little bit, run down the spiral wood stairs and into a table.
“Ooh, honey that looked like it hurt, are you okay?”
I get up and say “I'm fine mom. What are we doing today?”
“We are going to your grandparents.”
“Yes, I get to see grandpa!”
After a couple of minutes of driving, we pulled up at the house. I see grandpa, an old man with a long white beard, on the porch. I quickly opened the door and sprinted out.
“Grandpa! I missed you!”
“Oh! Well hello, Ben. What a surprise to see you!” Grandpa says.
“I need to go to the store to get some ingredients for dinner. I’ll leave you guys alone.” Mom said. She rolled up the window and left.
“Let's go inside,” He says. I walk with him to the living room, I make him a sandwich while watching some television.”
“This is channel 7, Real News.” The reporter pauses for a moment. “It is now confirmed that a meteor is now coming toward earth. We are going to open up the satellite footage.”
“Grandpa! Come see this!” I yell. He comes in as fast as he can.
“The government is going to send up missiles to destroy it. But if you can take cover in bunkers, concrete rooms, panic rooms, etc.”
“Ben! Come!” We ran into the downstairs bunker. We slam the door behind us, I turn on the generator.
“I’m going to call mom.”
