It's December 24th, 2045. It's been twenty years since we first started working on cybernetics, crazy I know but everyone believed it was the right idea.
I've been staying away from it mostly because all I've heard is that people keep dying from the testing. But what's worse is that they say they've found a way for it not to kill the person with the enhancements.
But it's 100% use of your brain, when you think about it, it's pretty scary. I don't think I'd want that only because my way of thinking would be gone.
But besides that, I'm currently living in Oregon. I'm twenty two now, I've been living on my own for a while now. So when I turned two, they officially figured out how to get their cybernetics to work.
It's crazy to think about but they believe this could help the future generations, especially since it could prevent us from ageing. Imagine being a hundred years old but you don't look a day over twenty years old.
No one will age but will people still even die?
We have many diseases out there that can effect you and how do we know that the cybernetics won't one day get contaminated or stop working?
If they stop working randomly one day, the people who have them will die.
I only got one cybernetic enhancement, it was for my leg. My left leg was permeantly paralyzed because of a work related incident.
That was two years ago that I got the enhancement on my leg, I couldn't stand crutches anymore. They finally brought me to my breaking point, my leg wasn't ever gonna get better so I gave in.
Only my leg though, nothing else.
I still don't like having the enhancement, it's not the best feeling even though I can walk now.
My name is Colin Welch, I'm 22 years old and I believe in revolting against the government.
Now I know that's not where you thought I was going but you gotta understand they implemented Everything in the government and police forces. So riots are now just "unintentional massacres."
Yeah the government has covered it up every time, they say that someone did this and it caused the whole thing. No one knows anything anymore.
Politicians campaign on changing society itself now. By giving baby's early enhancements free of charge so they can start off 100% from the start.
Disabilities are no longer a problem.
But the thing is that the government doesn't really care for civilian lives since they can just replace people now.
It wasn't just enhancements, they also worked on robotic people who are slowly taking over. We don't know how to handle this, it's beyond a problem and the government won't listen to us anymore.
It's like our voices have gone dark to them.
What could you expect though? At this time and age I guess this was destined to happen. We've fallen that much as a civilization.
Gunfire in the distance can be heard.
Yeah people are rebelling against the newer police forces but it's not going well. The police don't even have half the rules or policies they use to have now.
It's that corrupt in my opinion that we have to stand up to them.
This town has been collapsing since 2028 and now it just got even worse because of the rebels. I don't think there is much we can do.
Static over a radio can be heard.
The hell?
"Attention to all those who refuse to give in to government, Fight for your rights! Join us at Omega Hall on South Street! For safety and for the rights of the people!"
I don't even know if I would make it there, it's a decent walk away before I could even make it there in the first place. But maybe it's worth a shot.
I managed to get up off of my chair and walked over to my room. I'm gonna need my backpack and a hoodie, not every officer is hostile towards civilians.
Especially if we aren't rebelling.
After grabbing my backpack and putting my hoodie on I looked at my door, I guess it's time to leave huh. For the first time in ages, I'm leaving this house with no intent on returning.
A rebellion isn't really my thing but it could be what this world needs now.
