The Devil and The Designer

The First Encounter

The First Encounter

May 08, 2026

The rain lashed against the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Mehara empire, but inside, the air was cold for an entirely different reason. Reyansh Mehara, a 24-year-old who appeared to the world as a rude and arrogant businessman, stood silently staring at the city below. While girls everywhere drooled over his Greek God looks, he didn't mind them at all; his focus was far more dangerous. In the public eye, he was a successful CEO, but in the underworld, he was known as the Devil—the leader of a gang whose faces were never seen, because those who saw them did not stay alive. The shipment is secured, ansh," a calm voice broke the silence.

Reyansh didn't turn. He knew that voice anywhere—Aarush Mehara, his 27-year-old elder brother. To the world, Aarush was a calm, quiet, and successful businessman, but like Reyansh, he was a powerful mafia leader. Both brothers had built this secret life to punish the bad and take revenge for their parents, who were killed years ago by their father's enemies. While Aarush commanded with a calculated, regal authority, Rey was the fire that burned anyone who dared to cross their bloodline.

"It’s not the shipment I’m worried about," Ansh replied, his voice a low, dangerous rumble as he used the name only his brother and sister-in-law were allowed to speak. "It’s the loose ends." Across town, in a world of vibrant fabrics and humming sewing machines, Tanishka Nanda lived in a different kind of intensity. At 24, Tanu was a perfect combination of beauty and brains, a talented fashion designer who remained innocent and cute despite the tragedy of losing her parents in an accident when she was fifteen. She worked alongside Kavya, whom she considered a sister, completely unaware that her path was about to collide with the very "Devil" she worshipped from afar for his work in the underworld. Tanu, you're going to overwork yourself before the gala even starts!" her cousin Advik joked, leaning against the doorframe.

Advik was a strict Assistant Commissioner of the Mumbai Police, but for his family, he was a soft and loving person. Though he was a man of the law, he secretly respected the Devil gang and helped them legally when needed.

Tanishka smiled, though her eyes remained focused on her work. "It has to be perfect, Bhai. Tonight is everything."

She worshipped the Devil gang for their "good work" in punishing the wicked, never realizing that the leader of that gang was the man the rest of the world feared as the arrogant Reyansh Mehara.

The Mehara Mansion

Inside the estate, Kavya Mehara walked into the study. Smart, beautiful, and sweet, she was an orphan who found a true family in the Mehara brothers. She was married to Aarush and loved him deeply, and she was one of the few who knew the truth about their mafia identities. She walked over to her husband first.

"Aaru, the car is ready," Kavya said softly, using the name only she was permitted to call him. She then turned to Reyansh and gently straightened his collar, treating him like her own brother. "Ansh, please try to stay calm tonight. I hear the new designs being showcased are quite special." Rey offered her a small, rare smile. "Bhai already gave me the lecture, Bhabhi. I'll be the perfect businessman." Arjun Rathore, or Aju to his friends, entered the room with a playful grin. Though he was a famous actor, he was the right hand of the brothers in the underworld and a genius in technology. "Reyan, the technical security for the venue is locked down. No one will see anything they aren't supposed to."

The Gala: The Meeting

The grand ballroom was filled with the glitter of Mumbai’s elite, but for Tanishka, the only thing that mattered was the showcase. Advik stood by her side, his presence a comfort as she waited for the event to begin.

Suddenly, the atmosphere changed as the Mehara family entered. Aarush moved with a calm and regal authority, while Kavya looked beautiful and smart by his side. Behind them was Reyansh, walking with the rude and arrogant posture the world knew so well.

Aju and Mira were already in the crowd, posing for the cameras as the famous couple they were. Aju caught Reyan's eye and gave a small nod, signalling that all technical systems were secure.

"They’re here, Tanu," Mira whispered, coming over to her best friend.

Tanishka looked up and her eyes locked with Reyansh’s. She saw the "Greek God" the world talked about, but she felt a strange pull toward him that she couldn't explain. She worshipped the "Devil" for his good work, but she had no idea the man standing before her was the same person.

Reyansh looked at the innocent girl standing by the designs. He didn't care for the girls who drooled over him, but there was something about Tanu that made his piercing gaze linger for a second longer than usual.

"That is the girl Kavya was talking about," Aarush mentioned quietly to his brother.

Ansh didn't say a word, his face remaining a mask of cold indifference, but his eyes never left her.

The Arrival of the Inner Circle

As the gala progressed, the crowd parted for Vedika, who walked in with the fearless confidence of a lady don. She wasn't afraid of anyone or anything, but the moment she saw Advik Bhai, her sharp expression softened into one of deep love. She greeted Tanu with the warmth of a true sister, as the family treated her like their own daughter.

"You look beautiful, Tanu," Vedika said, her bold presence providing an extra layer of protection around the young designer.

Nearby, another powerful duo arrived—Aryan Varma and his wife, Zyra. Aryan, the CEO of Dil Se and a close business partner to Reyansh and Aju, moved through the room like the monster the business world feared. However, his eyes only followed Zyra, his "shaitaan," whom he loved beyond measure. He had once been cold, but since she came into his life, he had become a total "majnu" for her.

Zyra, a sweet and innocent reporter for Dil Se, stayed close to his side. She smiled at Aryan, calling him her "khadoos" with a playful glint in her eyes. Both of them considered Aarush as their elder brother, making them an inseparable part of the Meharas' inner world.

Aryan gave a respectful nod toward Aarush Bhai, while Zyra went to greet Kavya. They were all gathered now—the powerful families and their hidden secrets, all revolving around the "Devil" and the innocent girl who worshipped his shadow. The gala was in full swing, and the air was thick with the scent of expensive perfume and the quiet whispers of the city's most powerful people. Tanu stood by her collection, her heart hammering against her ribs. She was the perfect combination of beauty and brains, but in this moment, she felt like the world was spinning.

Vedika noticed her nervousness and placed a supportive hand on her shoulder. The "Lady Don" didn't fear anyone in the room, and her presence gave Tanu a sense of security. "Tanu, stop worrying. Your work is better than anything else here," she said firmly, her love for her husband's family shining through.

Nearby, Aryan and Zyra were deep in conversation with Aarush Bhai. Aryan, the CEO of Dil Se, looked like a monster to the other businessmen in the room, but he was a total majnu as he kept a protective arm around Zyra.

"Look at them, Khadoos," Zyra whispered to Aryan, nodding toward the fashion display. "The designs are stunning."

"They are, Shaitaan," Aryan replied, his eyes softening only for her.

As they talked, Reyansh began to walk through the hall, his rude and arrogant aura making the crowd part like the Red Sea. Girls were drooling over him, but his icy gaze didn't flicker. He was heading straight toward the fashion segment.

Aju leaned in and whispered to Reyan, "The cameras are looped. No one is tracking your movements."

Reyansh nodded, his face a mask of cold indifference. He stopped right in front of Tanishka's display. For the first time, the "Devil" wasn't looking at a business rival or a target. He was looking at the delicate embroidery of a veil—and the girl who created it.

Tanishka looked up, her warm, innocent eyes meeting his sharp, piercing ones. She didn't know he was the mafia leader she worshipped for his justice; she only saw the arrogant businessman the world feared.

"Are these yours?" Rey asked, his voice a low, dangerous rumble that sent a shiver down her spine.

Tanu straightened her posture, her fierce talent rising to the surface. "They are," she replied, not backing down from his intense stare.

From a distance, Advik Bhai watched the interaction closely, his hand resting near his side, while Kavya and Aarush Bhai shared a knowing look. The worlds of the Devil and the Designer had finally collided.

The Gala: The Inner Circle Gathers

The fashion display was now the center of attention. Advik Bhai and Vedika stood close to Tanu, forming a protective wall of family around her. Vedika, despite her reputation as a fearless lady don, was smiling warmly at Tanu, her eyes full of pride for her sister-in-law.

Nearby, Aryan and Zyra were observing the crowd. To the rest of the business world, Aryan was a monster who dominated the publishing industry, but as he stood with his wife, his focus was entirely on her.

"The security is tighter than usual tonight, Zyra," Aryan noted, his eyes scanning the room with the calculation of a CEO.

"It has to be, AV," Zyra replied with a sweet smile. "With the Meharas here, the whole city is watching."

Aryan nodded, his expression softening as he looked at her. "Stay close to me."

"Don't be such a Khadoos, I'm just going to say hello to Kavya," Zyra teased, using her special nickname for him with a playful wink.

Aryan smirked, watching his "shaitaan" walk toward the Mehara family. He then turned to Aarush Bhai, whom he respected as an older brother, and gave a brief nod. The bond between the Varmas and the Meharas was silent but unbreakable.

Meanwhile, Reyansh had finished his walk-through and was now standing directly in front of Tanishka. The "Greek God" of the business world was inches away from her. To Tanu, he was just the arrogant Reyansh Mehara, but she felt a strange, magnetic pull toward him.

"Your work is... impressive," Rey said, his voice a dangerous rumble.

Tanishka looked up at him, her beauty and brains shining through her nervous excitement. "Thank you, Mr. Mehara. I believe fashion should have a soul, not just a label."

Ansh felt a flicker of something in his cold heart—a spark he hadn't felt in a long time. Behind him, Aju was busy ensuring the digital footprint of this meeting remained off the public record, while Mira watched her best friend with bated breath. The "Devil" had finally met the girl who worshipped his shadow.

The gala hall remained charged with an unspoken tension as Reyansh and Tanishka stood locked in that first, pivotal gaze. Around them, the most powerful people in Mumbai continued their dance of secrets and high-stakes business, unaware of the storm brewing in the center of the room.

Aarush watched from a distance, his calm and quiet nature masking the sharp calculation of a mafia leader. Beside him, Kavya felt a sense of fate. She knew Ansh better than anyone, and she could see the subtle shift in his cold demeanor. She looked over at Aarush Bhai, a small, knowing smile playing on her lips, before they moved to greet AV and Zyra.

Aryan kept his protective gaze on Zyra, though he remained alert to every movement in the room. To the world, they were the elite—the CEOs, the actors, the socialites—but within this circle, they were a family bound by blood, secrets, and a shared history of loss.

"We should move, Ansh," Aarush said, stepping up beside his brother. His voice was steady, the voice of the "King" ensuring the "Devil" didn't reveal too much of his fire in public.

Reyansh finally broke the eye contact, his face returning to its rude and arrogant mask. Without another word to Tanishka, he turned and walked away, his presence leaving a cold vacuum in the air.

Tanu took a deep breath, her fingers trembling slightly as she reached for a piece of silk on her mannequin. Mira and Vedika quickly moved to her side, sensing the intensity of the moment.

"Are you okay, Tanu?" Mira asked, her hot and kind persona replaced by genuine concern for her best friend.

"I'm fine," Tanishka whispered, looking one last time at the retreating back of the man she thought she hated for his arrogance, but secretly admired for the justice his "Devil" persona brought to the world.

As the night drew to a close and the rain continued to lash against the windows outside, the lines had been drawn. The Nanda and Mehara families had officially collided, and for Reyanshka, the bandhan of love and shadows was only just beginning.
