I always knew there was something off about that motherfucker.
One day, I tried warning our friends about him and they all called me a jealous, crazy, asshole.
They said something about me being jealous that Marie was interested in him and I just couldn't handle the fact that my ex wanted to go out with my best friend. He is not my friend.
A montage plays out in my head, a compilation of the best moments I ever experienced in my life.
I'm reminiscing and he's just standing there, staring out the spaceship window looking at his masterpiece! by masterpiece I mean the Space Station he blew up into a million pieces.
Wait... something about this feels familiar.
<Six Months Ago>
It's six in the morning. I have a job interview in about an hour and I spent the past night drinking until I blacked out.
"I'm planning on blowing up the station," I lift my gaze and find Finny walking behind me through the sink mirror, "I want you to escape with me."
I keep brushing my teeth because this is the least out of pocket shit he's said in the twenty eight years I've known him, "Whatever, man."
I guess he doesnt catch my dismissive tone and just smiles, "I'll do it in six months, don't forget."
<Present Time>
Fuck, how was I supposed to know he was serious about this?
I groan and press my palm against the spaceship window where I can see the flames eating away at the station, "That's our home."
Finny crosses his arms over his chest, "yep."
"You blew it up... with explosives."
He tilts his head with a shrug, "With an energy surcharge but yes."
"My friends were on that station," I shake my head and turn to him with utter desperation, "Our friends were on that station!"
"We can make more friends later," He meets my eyes, "what we need to worry about is fuel, we only have quarter of a tank left and the ship is scheduled to send us a few light years into outerspace."
All strength leaves my body, "What the fuck, man, you had six months! You know we can't just land at any charging station! We're fugitives now!" I collapse onto the cold hard floor and begin to cry.
Finny kneels beside me and wipes my tears, "That's right, babe, you and I are stuck in outerspace!"
Oh. My. God. I'm actually going to die here, I cry harder.
"Why did you do this," I push him away, "like, genuinely, what is wrong with you?"
He looks genuinely confused, which confuses me and we can't both be confused so I wait for him to reply, "You told me to do it?"
What...?
<Six Months And A Night Ago>
"I hate this stupid ass station," I threw another job rejection letter on the coffee table and threw myself on the sofa, "You should blow it up for me, Finny."
"Okay," Finny was all that he said.
I huffed, "Fuck, I hate this place! I'mma go get wasted, don't wait for me."
<Present Time>
Bruh.
"So what now," I won't even linger on the idea that all of this might be partially my fault.
Granted, it took zero convincing but I definitely gave him the inspiration.
Finny shrugged, "Let's fuel up on the closest planet and go wherever we want from there," He gestures at the vast darkness though the window, "It's a big universe, we'll evenatually find a planet where the both of us can be happy.
"... I want to live on a planet with many mountains..."
