Warrior's POV:
Fear.

“Aren’t bed time stories supposed to start with ‘Once Upon a Time,’” I interrupt and get a pillow to my face.
“Not Mine!” The little blonde shouts.

Most hear this word and think darkness, those who don’t are wrong. Those people who see the “bright side” of fear, aren’t really seeing fear. Those people have their backs turned to the darkness of the world and refuse to see it until it smacks them upside the head. Some people can’t see anything other than the darkness and the realists, are just people stuck looking down the middle. Everyone is influenced by fear in some way or another, but no one can get away from it. Those who try end up being killed by it.
Me? I’m special, I have fears, but I can control feeling it, that’s my talent, I can control the darkness, dark emotions, and shadows.
Every demon has a power, my mother can control the plants, my dad can control fire. My parents are some of the stronger demons, so everyone expected me, their child, to control something special.
They got their wish.
It’s never been heard of for a demon to control fear, or any emotion for that matter. Anything from levitating to explosions, sure, but never emotions. I also have attributes from each of my parents. I got my mother’s dragon wings and sight and my dad’s senses, ears and tail. My mother’s a powerful red dragon while my father is the alpha hell hound with black fur.
Each demon has a complete human form, except for me.
In my human form I can hide my wings, but not when I’m asleep or unconscious, and my ears and tail never disappear. Not only is my human form incomplete, but my demon form is huge. Where my dad can turn into a wolf, I can turn into a wolf ten times bigger than normal, and I have a second form. A dragon, oddly that’s normal sized, but my horns, talons and teeth are sharper and my wings stronger. When I roar, I spew a blackness that will make trees and demons alike tremble and break from fear.
Another thing that all demons receive once their human forms are complete, are tattoos that represent our powers. The mark that I received when they decided my human form was as complete as it would get, is a bloody white rose in front of dangerous, black wings spread out on my lower back above my tail.
My parents hid me away in the mountains on my tenth birthday after getting my mark and exhibiting my powers. They didn’t want me to be hunted and used by others. I’ve been living on my own on this abandoned mountain in the middle of nowhere for the past six years, now. I learned how to tan animal pelts all by myself, and from watching the animals that manage to survive out here, I learned scavenging, hunting and how to stay warm. I don’t know if I’m any good, but it keeps me alive.
It’s winter now, and I’m hungry, so I wrap myself with one of the many pelts and head out to find some food. I’d hunt in my other forms, but that ruins the pelts. I go out into the knee-deep snow with very little clothing on. I’ll have to start a fire when I get back to dry off.
