Just like any other day, Lei Patrick sat at his desk to begin his daily routine at work when his phone began to buzz. Absentmindedly, the twenty something year old executive picked up the call without checking to see who might be calling him.

“Hello.”

“Patrick, is this the wrong time to call you?”

A sultry voice made its way through the earpiece of the phone that rested on the ears of Lei Patrick.

“Ma-Madam Wu?”

Lei Patrick’s did not know when his voice became hoarse as though he had food stuck in his throat, for some unknown reason the young man felt the need to cough to clear out his throat.

“Yes Patrick...”

“No, it’s fine. You called at the right time, is there something the matter?”

Hearing the hesitancy in the voice of his caller, Lei Patrick used that time to gather his weakened composure.

“Zane has been busy of late with work, he and I used to have a friendly tennis match at our courtyard. I was thinking maybe you could join me. Since both you and Zane are remarkably close in age, I don’t think it might raise any problem and I consider you as my second son or would Daughter-in-law mind that I’m asking her brother to keep this old woman company?”

“…”

“I-If it is too much trouble, you can forget that I brought this up.”

The angular face of Lei Patrick lit up; his lips curled up in a dazzling smile as though he had been awarded a ton of money. Unconsciously his fingers began to comb through his dark silky hair before they settled right back on the desk.

“When do you want me to come, Madam Wu?”

“How about Saturday at 8 in the morning? You don’t need to bring anything; I’ll have the maids get your gears ready and they’ll show you to the tennis courtyard.”

“That sounds good to me, I’ll see you in 2 days’ time. Enjoy the rest of your day, Madam Wu.”

“Alright, have a nice day.”

The call ended with Lei Patrick unable to contain the emotions that welled up within him when the thought of spending his weekend with his secret crush was becoming a dream come true. For the remainder of the day the young man’s head was in the cloud, wrapped in the fantasy of an elaborate date with his supposed in-law.
