Natasha Paced the rundown apartment, arms wrapped around her torso. Her mentor stood in the corner, his cigarette the only light besides a flickering oil lamp. A three knock pattern, a pause, then a four knock sounded at the door. Sasha’s head jerked up. “Come in.” His voice was gruff and his lips chapped. Two men came in. One was older, his face wrinkled and his hair salt and pepper grey. The other was younger, his face serious and frowning. He stepped into the light and Natasha’s mouth fell open. Him! The man from the nightclub! He’s my new partner?
His brown eyes were expressionless as they swept over Natasha. She felt a hot shiver overtake her body.
The club lights were flashing, scattering over the dancers like shattered rainbow glass. Natasha’s eyes scanned the dancefloor. The writhing bodies of men and women didn’t make her blush, but the man who’d been following her with his eyes all evening made her whole body burn. She bit her lip, feeling her heart speed up as she looked toward the pillar he’d been leaning against since he came into the club, only to find him gone.
Hands gripped her hips, slowly sliding in from behind, and swayed to the music. Natasha spun around, slapping him hard. With her eyes narrowed and her painted lips in a pout she said, “Who do you think you are, touching me like that?"His mouth had curled into a smirk, eyes lighting up. "You move like a tiger. I like it.” He pulled Natasha close to him, his hands moving to her waist.
As Natasha looked into his eyes, she lost her desire to punch him. No man had ever looked at her like that before; Like he was already apart of her life, waiting for her to notice. His hands glided up her back, across the bare skin exposed by her halter top dress, making her arch her back.
They stared at each other from across the room. His arms were crossed over his chest, the dark sweater doing little to hide the cording of his muscles. Natasha felt her body heat up. She licked her lips. He scowled. Sasha looked between them, his face worried. “Do you two know each other?”
“Yes.”
He glared at her, a frown twitching across his face. “No..” Sasha took another puff of his cigarette. “Yakov, let’s let them get to know each other. They’ll be spending a lot of time together.” The elder agents left the dingy apartment, leaving their progeny alone.
The man crossed the room, coming to pin her with his harsh glare. His eyes softened. “I don’t like the way you make me feel; It’s affecting my work.” Natasha opened her mouth to reply. He caught her face in a calloused hand, running his thumb over her bottom lip.
“Stop making me feel this way, woman.”
Natasha glared up at him. “No.” He smiled, his arms snapping around her, his lips crushing hers. “I’m Viktor”
